Okay i just bought a 98 GSX 100,xxx miles on it and im absoloutley obsessed with the DSM's all 17 yrs of my life haaha. Before it was bought it was sent to Slowboyz racing and they workerd their magic on the engine. Also the turbo was takin out and he modified the stock turbo not so sure what he did. Previous owner also Put DNP Headers on. Car runs great and i love it. I put in new carrier bearings ;head unit; subs; amp. Injen Intake, Greddy GS BOV running it atmospheric and no problems whatsoever. New bumper pieces to get rid of rust. New halos and HID's. I have a 16G turbo brand new from ebay .. its legit.. and a 255 Walbro fuel pump still in boxes and not sure i want to install those yet because i dont have 550cc Injectors.. My car headers run hott the egnine heat gauge says its running right smack in middle which is good. I dont know weather i should do something about headers like a MISHIMOSHO radiator. Or i should purchase a boost controller to get ready for new turbo/ or paint job cause car has tiny dent and some bad spots but still looks clean cut orrrrr take it to TGP dynotuning in indiana PA and let them tune my car . Need some help or opionions on what path i should take because i dont have a money tree growin in the back yard.. If anyone needs pictures i can post some ..Appreciate it thanks:cool:

First off you need to use some more punctuation and spelling. That was so hard to read.

Second without a blow thru maf setup you need to recirculate the BOV. Even if you "think its fine", its not and the car is running rich between shifts since the metered air is not making it to the motor.

Third our cars have a turbo manifold. Not a header. Why you think the header is overheating? Its metal, not something that can really overheat. The thing can glow red and still be fine. A radiators not going to help cool the exhaust. Its too cool the engine coolant and thats it.

If i get a boost gauge and Boost controller. Do you think I can run about 3 more PSI with the stock T-25 Turbo. Also my stupid Injen Intake I bought didnt come with a hole where I can hook up the recirculation Hose to.. Really dont know what to do about that. And i dont think its running rich theyre was no change in gas mileage and my fellow DSM'ers say it doesnt effect every DSM when running atmospheric.

Your all over the place for what you want, first off like everyone always says MAINTENANCE FIRST! Once that`s all done try and buy a wideband and a logger, so we can prove to you that your running rich between shifts because of atmospheric dump LOL.

And that little 16g from ebay isn`t so legit it`s chinese made! BUT can sometimes really be an awesome turbo for the price depending on the setup. So to sum up do all your maintenance, then save up for a wideband and a logger. Then your on your way to success LOL.

You don't even have a boost gauge :ohdamn::notgood:

After all maintenance and repairs, the boost gauge should be the first modification you perform. The T-25 isn't efficent after 16-17 psi. All you would be doing is pushing hot air and over working the turbo. The advice I give everyone is until you have the fuel for the air, run stock wastegate pressure (no MBC).

The ebay 16g is garbage and has a high probability to getting destroyed and there is a chance that the compressor fins can make it into the motor and cause damage there as well.

You can install the 255 but you need to put in an AFPR to lower the fuel pressure back down. Before you buy the injectors figure out what you want to do down the road HP wise. If you want more than 350hp then go with bigger injectors and be sure the tuning method will support your injectors (750cc is the max for an SAFC and it is harder to tune the larger the injector size is)

EVERY DSM is affected negatively when venting metered air. Some are just more affected than others.

As per your intake, you can either get a fitting welded in, find a different intake (ebay), go with a GM MAF in blow through or speed density. Those are the only 2 ways you can properly vent your BOV.

Your exhaust manifold being tubular will be much hotter than a cast manifold. You will want to put "header/manifold" wrap on it to lower temperatures. If it's too close to the alternator, the high heat can kill it along with melting fans.

BTW, it's "Slowboy Racing" not slowboyz.

What was done with the engine?

Liquid. Thanks looks like you got a lot of logic on this MAF-T shit... Im just gonna forget all the injector boost upgrade stuff till im done with BOV. If i take my car to a dyno tuning can they run speed density?? Expensive??.... Im gooing to buy 2gen MAF-T and go from there i do need a little help.

Ill keep you posted on every mod done to egine in a little emailing who i purchased the car from.. Pretty sure slowboys rebuilt the heads.

Like they said, before you jump to tuning and spending some major bucks, start with the MAINTENANCE. It is a cheap way to save your car from more costly problems later. Check and change the plugs and possibly wires for starters. Also look into getting a Dejon intake pipe or something similar and recirculate that BOV. Don't worry you'll still be able to hear it when you need to. Also think about a DSMLink. It will cost a little more up front than dyno tuning maybe but it's a one time thing and then you can tune anytime you want.

Just a word to the wise. Learn every thing you can before doing anything. Tune up comes first before power!! Timing belt, wire, plugs, ect... just say it sounds like you have no idea what is up with your car. learn how to feel the car and know what every smell and sound means. Like i beat when you slam on it and it runs rice from it being vented. just saying. Turbocharged anything is unforgiving. anything that can go wrong will with a turbocharged car. ask any wisemen. Get some books and do a lot of reading trust me. S-A Design "How to build a Max performance Mitsubishi 4g63t" really is a helpful one and so is "Turbo Real world High-Performance" by the same S-A Design you can get them off amazon. Also just this site has done wonders. You think you want what you want tell after you learn more then it changes. so do some serious reading and thinking before spending a dime.

appreciate all the help. But matenience is pretty good on car i work at car garage just started i put car up every week or so everything looks good. Brand new timing belt but I could use some new wires If anyone knows a good site for them. But the problem with the intake is I bought a brand new injen intake and the pipe has no place for recirc I dont care bout the sound. Thats why Im looking into GM MAF Trans and what is DSM Link I hear so much about it.:|

and like i said car runs great even pedal to the medal it runs like a champ.

i have a injen intake off my dsm from back back back in the day when i was young, broke, and didnt know squat about my dsm. it has the recirc adaptor on it though. if you want it, pm me and we can set something up. if not, go to a machine shop and ask them to tig weld a adaptor on it for the recirc.

DSMLink / EMCMLink allows you to tune your car via a laptop and chip installed on your ECU. Basically you send off your ECU and they modify it with the chip. You'll get back a package with your ECU that will have the software and necessary cables to hook it up to a laptop. You will also get a username to be used in their forums. This will get you access to pretty much everything you will need to get started tuning yourself. I think the V3 setup comes to around $500 bucks. Things to consider: you won't need a MAF Translator, and you can get rid of the MAS with a blow thru design if you so choose. This will save you money from getting your intake pipe modified and a lot of money on taking the car to get tuned at shops. I'm sure senior members can elaborate more but most say it is the best way to go if you plan on investing time and money into your DSM.

I gotta agree with the usmc guy dsmlink is ###### one of the best investments that you can do right now along with some guages and GM MAF since you're almost forced to vent to atmosphere, just go to ebay and type in 3" GM MAF dsm, and it should bring up a ton of them........RAH:hellyeah:

ECMLink is probably the single best thing you can get for your car in the long run. If you get that with a boost gauge and wideband, you will be just about ready for anything else you wanna throw at your car. The new V3lite runs around $300 so it's not too expensive, but you do need an eprom ecu as well. As far as the bov goes, I would just recirculate it in the mean time, especially if you happen to be daily driving it. You can get an intake pipe that will allow you to recirc on ebay for under $50 which is much cheaper then properly venting it. Lastly, I would stay away from the ebay turbo just to be safe.

This ECMLink for 300$ does seem better then MAFT. But will someone list everything i need with it. I have no software for it. Also Do i need a boost gauge? and it will obvioussly fix the atmospheric problem correct.?

You will need to invest in a boost gauge and wideband A/F ratio. The DSMLink V.3 doesn't necessarily "fix the atmosphere thing" it just allows you to bypass the MAS or omit it and use a straight thru approach. Some members frown on this saying it isn't good for you DSM and others say it is ok. You'll have to make that decision based on how your car handles it. It boils down to a good tune. It will let you vent you BOV if you have a good tune and if it doesn't have negative affects on idle and WOT. You can try it and if it works great and if it doesn't just recirculate. Make sure you get the gauges first as you will have no clue what is going on with your car without being able to see the numbers.

Oh, and it will come with software or you can download it straight from the site.
