Well I've been having some problems with the car lately driving around i start to hear the whining noise from the power steering. find that its leaking out of one of the metal lines eventually burned out the power steering pump though that is not the current problem it may have caused the next, i now have the battery, coolant and break light stay on as soon as the key is turned to on and continue to stay on after the car is started and driving. Figuring its the alternator i pulled it and the battery and had them both tested outside of the car they both came back as being fine. I then returned the parts back to the car and the problem stayed. I noticed that none of the windows, locks, radio, ect worked so i checked the alt fuse and it was blown so i changed it, then all the electronics worked again though the lights stayed on. While driving my radar kept beeping saying low volt and my radio kept flickering and kept losing saved stations as if the battery was pulled. Any ideas?

dam i fell your pain.... samething is happening to me... but just the battery light and the brake light stays on... and when i give it a really hard launch then ill go away and then out of nowere a day or a week later it comes back on...

Ok the same thing happened to me battery and brake light, you need a new alternator, voltage regulator is messed up. As for the coolant light make sure it is not the low water light and you needs to put water in your windsheild washer bottle.

I blew my the 100A fusable link also before my alternator was acting up, I arc'd it being lazy and not disconnecting the battery.

Hope this helps,

Pete

I also have the battery and brake light on and I have switched out three different alternators since I have have had the car. Still have the lights on. I remember reading somewhere that too much resistance in the two four gauge wires coming off the alternator can cause a high voltage output. Not sure if that is true or the problem.

well look at your battery terminals and see if theres any lime build up on there or if they are rusty, pull on the wires to make sure the connections dont slip off. If they do you should clean them up. Baking soda always works well on batteries and you can get terminal/connection cleaning tools for like 5 bucks from your local autozone. The lead wires (the ones that come off the battery) should also be checked to ensure they arent cracked or broken or the rubber casing isnt eaten through.

also check this out, I know you said you had your alternator tested but just read this.

yea new grounds and new terminal wires all the way to the starter and alternator... and no luck.. even checked all the wires for resistance and voltage and everything checked out....

Dsm for life

i have the same problem on my 95 gsx .... noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo LOL..... we are all brother of the same problem LOL:hellyeah:

it IS your alternator more specificly the regulator that went bad... even if you changed it and get another defective one especially from kragen and autozone.

ether go new bosh from place like carquest or new oem replacement... those tree lights are linked as a check protocol when you first start car if they stay on but not fully lid kinda like dimed its the alternator another way to c is if you just idle on neutral and turn on your dome lights they will flicker another indication you got a bad alt.... also check your wires like mentioned b4 if they are in fact new then go to battery and have it tested again by different place (when i took mine to autozone for guarantee they told me it was fine i took to a shop and it was done, went back made them give me new one just cause i said so). i had same problem and had to replace alts like 3 times till they game me a "good" one.

Sounds like a bad voltage regulator. If you don't want to get another new alternator, take it to an alternator repair shop and have them install a new voltage regulator.
