Hey I plan to add 8.8.1 wiesco pistons to my already bought crank and eagle h beam rods, will i notice a huge loss in power till i hook up a turbo setup to the vehicle. since thats the last thing i need to buy in my build?

since cash flow is low from the rods and that?
 
I put eagle hbeams and wiseco 8.8s in my rs a few years ago. I saw a power increase with the new internals cause the new ring seal was better than the 120k mile old stockers. BTW i'm still waiting for someone to use the aem fic on the 420a. It is so cheap and so easy and crazy universal. I have installed and tuned one on a ford festiva 1.3l (turbo'd) and a 90 gsr teg turbo'd.
 
OMG if I had a dollar for every time I have seen a 2G NT-T conversion be a financial disaster, I would have about, well, 8 bucks by now! My reality advice and logical thinking is you shouldn't of done it. And you should stop pursuing it. Your reality acceptace and logical thinking will ignore this (or even flame) under pretense that no one understands how freakishly clean your 99 NT is and how it's a waste to let such clean car go un-turboed. John here in Oklahoma City has spent $9800 on full and proper build of 420A in to a turbocharged car, so ultimately after hidious years of insanity, he made 268whp on a 20G turbo (Hahn Racecraft) on 91 pump gas after all said and done (daily tune). He did all the work himself. Making more than that on stock DSMs with just 14B turbo has been thing done over and out million times. Facts are, even after you build your engine and it's all fortified and nice and "bomb proof", then your fuel system is a dissapointment. Then after you build your fuel system, you will realize how hard and uncooperative your ECU is for tuning. After you resolve this problem, sits drivetrain issue, tiny axles, no LSD, very weak transmission and after ALL OF IT, when you have upgraded every weak part of NT, your gearing and final drive in the NT is crap. Don't get hooked on the story of "I know a guy who has 420A turboed and he running 9`s" or how "friend of a friend" did this or that, go for majority of statistics. Non runing 2G GSTs are all over craigslist adds nation wide for 800-1500 weekly, so why bother? Usually I love people like you dump money in 420As because it's fun to watch someone suffer, but I got too old for that and would rather try to whisper proper advice in your...well, eyes.

Sorry for the rant, to answer the question if they are really 8.8 compression pistons, car will be driveable just fine. You will barely notice difference except some occasional missfires. As far as power loss.....r u serious? What power?
 
LOL I'm not in the business of having a 10 sec car my question to my fellow Dsm owners is if i wait to buy my turbo kit will my 8.8.1 wiesco pistons affect my n/a power! LOL I am by far not an idiot when it comes to builds! i have the money and i have spent more than enough and what i do have is a solid engine i just want to make sure because i have never ran lower compression pistons in an N/A car! I appreciate your input its well taken in but i like what i have! thanks chris that answers my question. Since it will be only a month of none daily driving till i can put the rest of the down on the turbo setup i want!
 
Great news! You're well on your way to 200hp and thousands of badly spent dollars.

LOL must be a lot of fun to buy a turbo car off the showroom and say your an awesome mechanic and to say you know what your doing!!!! when i finish i will post my test and tune and i will have to say it doesnt take as much as you think to hit 200 but thanks for proving you dont know anything about cars because what you answered does not reflect my original question!

yea you guessed me very well me and my Mexican buddy bought SWEET 5 ft wings and sweet turbo sounding exhaust pipe clips and a 10 inch exhaust that makes me look dope! LOL you guys are funny trying to compensate for your smallness and my question is to you if you have all this money for your "range rover" why drive an eclipse why not a lambo since you got the bank roll! i think those cars are your parents you still live at home your 16 and your work for your local pizza shop!



I THINK PEOPLE NEED TO READ BEFORE THEY ANSWER TO QUESTIONS, ALL I ASKED WAS ABOUT PISTONS NOT HOW MUCH OF AN ASS YOU ARE WITH YOUR FACTORY TURBO!
 
Heres my .02 cents....

dropping the comp will be good for a turbo build, it will alow for a bit more boost, and more ignition time.
It will also alow you to tune a bit easier, and stay out of Knock/pre det.

I doubt you will notice much of a diffrence between a 8.8 cr/ and a 9.5 cr in a NT app

Why do the 420a guys always have the same response when everyone tells them they are pretty much throwing their money away.
 
honestly i'm not spending a lot at all, just getting really good deals and like i said i don't want a 10 sec car or even a 13 sec car just a nice ride that can get up and go when i need to hit the gas, i had my honda days and its not about hot rodding around anymore its all about a solid motor built right! and ill hit 200hp easily and thats cool with me if i want faster id go get a car loan.

and anyone who buys a 10 or 15 year old car is waisting money buying all the crap that they will never get the money for when they sell it. to me its all about the fun of motor pulls and builds not that fact that i have 200hp or 500hp!
 
So you need to cc the pistons, measure how far they sit below the deck, cc the head, measure the crush thickness of the head gasket. use this

we bought wiesco "8.5:1" forged pistons for a 1.6 turbo miata
they were said to be 8.5:1 but when everything was measured they were almost 7.8:1
they sat way to far down from the deck. after serious decking we got it up past 8:1.
