I just got the usb cable/evoscan package from dsmchips, evoscan installed fine and I'm having an issue with the drivers. Installed ecuflash and the drivers, but I believe my issue is that windows installed drivers which are blocking the install of the drivers from ecuflash. Here is the error code it gives me regardless of the settings chosen, right now I'm under EFI/DSM (hybrid)/com4 and get this error code:

On vista 64 bit...any ideas?

First off, why are you using version 2.5 and not 2.6?

Second the Title in the error window is stating that you do not have access to the folder you are trying to write to.
Third It does not look like this has anything to do with your drivers. It looks like it is trying to read/write to the error log files.

If you read those long unseperated sentences they all make mention of files share, file options, file string, security attributes, file access, etc...

I would make sure that you have permission to read/write to the evoscan install folder first. Next I would update to version 2.6 which is the current stable build.

Ok so I gave it permission and that worked except for now it says my data.xml is invalid or out of date. Im using 2.5 because thats what came with my cable. Is there anything I can do other than contacting evoscan and getting a new one?

Hmmm, now that you have permissions on the folder I would try and reinstall it. That should replace any files that may have had issues due to restrictions.

Yes contact evoscan and they should send you a link or something for a newer version of the software, obviously just have your registered email address and software license key handy.

So I talked to the guy who sold me the Evoscan. On a 95-96 ECU you have to use the 2.5v he sent me. But im still getting the invalid or out of date error message. He doesnt know what to do and neither do I. Any suggestions?

I just tried to re-open it since all of this happened and im getting this error code now- Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ??? Then it asks me for my Serial Number and after I enter it, it says its invalid. I've triple checked it and its defenately the right one.

As far as I know, the MUT-over-OBDII stuff is broken in v2.6, which is why I tell guys with 1995/96 ECU's to use the v2.5. Hamish still hasn't answered my email on when he is going to fix the broken protocol.
I'm not much use with Vista errors, which is why I suggested he try on here.
What file is it asking for a serial number for???
Have you tried just copying the newer data.xml file on my website into the C:\Program Files\EvoScan\EvoScan v2.5\DataSettings folder? That data.xml file is one that Ceddy modified.

Once again more problems. Now when I go to open evoscan it says this: requested registry acess is not allowed then if I click the OK box it says this: Object reference no set to an instance of an object then I click OK and it says invalid serial. I tried uninstalling the program then reinstalling it and still the same messages... I emailed Jeff but I want to see if anyone else has any imput or has been here before. Any ideas?

Yes depending on what Wideband you have there is an option(top right) in evoscan to read form an external Wideband, I just wired my AEM UEGO to a "Serial 2 USB"(for lack of compatibility) cable soldering Pins 2 and 5 on the serial end

Pin 2 is the Receive pin which you solder to the Blue Date wire on the AEM UEGO

Pin 5 is a ground which you just wire to any ground on the inside of the car.

You then plug the USB end of the cable into another USB port on your laptop, I had to install drivers for and SERIAL to USB adapter cable that I found online. After that you find which COM Port the "serial 2 usb" cable has selected. This can be done by going into Device Manger within your control panel in Windows. Normal Range is COM 1-5.

I just posted an error I was receiving however using vista 32bit and EvoScan 2.6 Stable Build.

***Edit*****So direct response to your question, NO you need a wideband to read the A/F Ratio then you NEED to wire that WideBand into a cable that you can plug into a logging device, I.E. the method I posted above***
