Time to prep for the Great Canadian Winter! (yea right....13 degrees at the end of November?! it'll never happen..) but just incase winter tires are on shopping list.

My question is with tire height.
97 GSX, currently has 205/55 R16 and I got my eye on a set of 215/55 R17.

I used this site to get a good idea of what the dimensions are;
Tire Size Calculator | Vehicle Tire Sizes

The concern is when I'm turning at full deflection, will that extra 1.5" be an issue with the wheel well? :hmm:

Thanks!

My buddy has 215-50-17s on a 2g with out a single problem, I dout 55 would make to much of a difference!!

just going by that site, the profile difference between the 215/50 and 215/55.
Thanks for the input and fyi, the car is still stock and will be returned to stock height for winter driving, just in case i plan on playing with the height come summer.

Trash the spacer idea, you will rub with them. And imo you don't want low profiles for winter. But for the summer I have 235/45r17 with 17x8" on a dropped car and no problems (almost equivalent to a 215/55). And I have seen 245/40's on 17x9 inch wheels with a 35 offset. Clearance isn't as big of an issue as some people thing. But don't get greedy with your sizes.

oh yea. only got them to give a little more clearance for the differ tires. they sit pretty close to the........haha, drawing a blank here. the part that holds the wheel hut and extends upward to the upper mount? wow. sorry for the brain fart...
