Hey i have a 92 laser rs awd with some sweet mods so far. i bought it this way so i dont quite know in detail whats been done where. kinda buggs me but lets get to the point.

Stock boost gauge. (autometer guage reads 0 right now)
i was sittin in my car on lunch today..

car off- ign on. tap your foot on the throttle boost gauge moves from the rest, to -7. (ok whahappen) tap it again out of curiousity, -7 to 0. (ok its tryin to tell me somethin) tap it again 0 to +7. once more hitting the gas +7 to +14. and its exact on the mark.

does ANYONE know whats going on here? the ecu was tuned. idk by who. but she came with a packet of receipts and it gave some info about the computer. but nothing about stages or anything.

If you need more info on the car lemme know and i'll see what i can find.
 
I know with some ECU tuning one can make the factory boost gauge display things other than boost. Based on what yours is doing when you tap the gas... no idea. It could be different "tunes" within the ECU, or it could possibly be different boost levels (although I'm not exactly sure how one would be able to rig that up)

BUT, one thing can be sure, it's not the car's current boost reading! I guess you would have to ask the previous owner what it is set up for.

If the car is tuned with DSMLink, you can download the program and plug into the ECU to see what it is set to read/display.
 
The stock boost gage isn't accurate really, so even if it is displaying boost it might not be too accurate.
 
Check your receipts or your ECU and see if it has DSMLink (same as ECMLink), then report back.

If it's got DSMLink the boost gauge is most likely set up to monitor something else...like throttle position.
 
Selectable launch RPM A.K.A. stutterbox is what it sounds like to me.
Gauge Selection / Security
If your chip was done by Keydiver (DSMChips.com | DSM ECU Chips Enchanced by Keydiver), the stutterbox RPM range is probably different.



Stutterbox does show up in the ecu thing.

what does that mean for me? it holds launch rpm for me until i take off like an msd two step?

And there is no receipts for dsm link, it has pocketlogger software but i havent been able to moniter anything b/c i havent transferred registration...


Oh and boost gauge doesnt do anything while driving, but say i have it at setting +7. when i'm boosting the autometer can read 20 and she reads +7.

ecu receipt also says 750rpm idle, but my car has the ANNOYING idle surge, 1200-1500 :cry:
 
Ya it is selectable launch controls.. When your driving i bet it is a knock gauge.. Thats why it doesn't do anything.. Try going wot really fast and see if it moves.. It might move alittle..

it doesnt move. i cant get it to read anything really. :( there's some loose wires hanging under the dash by the clutch pedal. blue i think? i bought it and yes its a hoopdie LOL i'll let yas know if i get it to do anything..

can someone send me a message on here to what that all means? or a link where i can find what it all exactly means?


Oh and my stutterbox rpm's do work, only i dont have to push the clutch in to select. i cant get the gauge to read voltage, o2 sensor V, or any of that.
