i was handed down a evo8 hks intake + the stock maf sensor when a buddy got rid of his evo a few years back. now the intake seems like it will bolt right up to my stock maf and all i need to do is drill a little hole for a nipple for 1 of the hoses that connects to the pipe, but is there anything i can do with the maf?

You can use it, but unless your flowing a TON of air you will not need it and it will not benefit you at all. I actually need one because I'm flowing 50+lb/min.
A 2g maf is more than a lot of dsm'ers will need.

yeah i am definately not getting that much air! LOL but i have heard of somebody with evo 560cc's and used the evo maf to counter out needing a safc? didnt make too much sense to me but i figured some1 here would know more about it

The Evo 8 MAF should flow about 33% more air than the 2g MAF if I recall correctly. So it'd compensate for 33% larger injectors without much extra tuning needed. That would be roughly 600cc injectors. If the numbers above are correct, with 560cc Evo injectors you'd be running lean and need to adjust with an AFC or possibly with fuel pressure.
