Garbage Ebay shifter

Hey I just wanted to post about the ebay short shifter I recieved this week and my experience with it. I won't mention the name of the company I bought it from because they are only guilty of shipping a garbage product, in all other aspects they were really great to deal with.
So if you search ebay for a 1g dsm shifter you'll see loads of the 2 piece shifters cut out of solid aluminum that are very squared off and don't come with any of the shifter hardware, and I ordered one of those. I recieved it on monday, and when taking it out of the box it seemed to be of pretty low quality, but it was also exactly what was pictured in the auction. I went to install it on tuesday and as soon as I connected the left/right plastic bushing on the lowest point of the shifter assembly I noticed there was WAYYY too much space there for it to shift comfortably at all so I quit right there and contacted the company. They offered to refund my $25 minus 5 for shipping and handling under the condition I toss the shifter in the garbage (which I was more than happy to do). So just be aware of these generic 1g shifters, they also don't come with a forward/back shifter stop which I believe can't be good for the tranny.

Defenitely did, I'm just glad I got most of my money back. I ended up putting 2 extremely thin plastic washers into the stock shifter assembly and I have nearly no play, which is what I was looking to accomplish.

I am a big fan of the Fidanza shifter. The height isnt that much shorter, but everything seems crisper and firmer. I wish I would of done it a long ass time ago. And they are nicely priced.

I had trouble finding a 1g fidanza shifter. I'm really happy with how the washers worked in my shifter, but if you have a link to their 1g shifter I'd be interested to check out pricing.

Fidanza DSM Short Throw Shifter - 1G 91-94 Talon, Eclipse#-#Shifters#-#Clutch - Transmission#-#DSMparts.com

$70 shipped. That aint bad. I'v read before that they dont have the proper stopers and can over extend the shift forks. But I call b.s, I have no lift shifted and banged the gears hard on my car and have never had a problem. Feels brand new.

It's always good to know what is and isn't a safe buy on ebay, although for the price of most short shifters I'd just stick with name brands anyway.

I bought a shifter that is identical to the Fidanza shifter off ebay, it is called Ralco or something of this nature. The shifter was listed for 45.00 OBO I offered 35 and got it. It installed easily and shifts are noticably shorter but no stops either.

I have the B&M knockoff from ebay for my 2g and it is great.

Nothing comes loose and feels very solid.

I have BOTH an ebay and a FIDANZA shifter for the 1g. Too be honest they are almost identically exactly the same. In fact I think they are. Although, the Fidanza had to have the holes enlarged for it to put the plastic white bushings/spacer things in. The ebay did not...?

Also where the heavy spring attaches to return the shifter to center in neutral, the Fidanza's was a single small thin rod that looked like it was cut in half which half of it broke off.
The ebay's was a solid thin rod not cut in half and did not break off.

For the shortest throw, it's supposed to go on the lower of the two holes (50% throw). I felt a pretty big diff when i put the stock one back on before i sold the 2g GST

AWD trans is not something easy to come by and I wouldnt risk it by putting a shifter that can break or mess up my gears.. B&M proven that works use that or keep it stock. I think k sport makes one too now, I would stick to real name brands.

The thing is we're talking about 1h... B&M does NOT offer one for the 1g.
Though the best short throw you can get for a 1g is probably JNZ's custom one.
