could be that the clutch isn't disengaging all the way, did you replace the throw out bearing? Could be the rebuild was done wrong, synchros not working as they should. If you had it rebuilt at a shop I would go back there and have them fix it properly.

I would first start by checking adjustment ,cause first gens are common to have clutch pedal assembly problems and not allowing the clutch to fully engage or disengage due to bent parts in the asembly. You can look at jacks tranmission website for more info on the pedal assembly.

Yeah check your cable adjustment, first/second could be a possible up/down shift selector issue. If you remove your front part of your shift console, the left cable is the one that possibly could be out of adjustment. Its pretty easy once you look at it, you just need two 10mm wrenches and a phillips screwdriver. Maybe a pliers to remove the cotter pin.

more than likely, if they didnt screw up something in the transmission, is that your clutch isnt disengaging all the way.

When you push in the clutch and get it into gear, how far off the floor does the clutch start to engage?

is the clutch spongy? if so bleed it thouroughly. you may need to replace either your master or slave cylinder. look for any clutch fluid leaks under the dash where the pushrod enters into the master cylinder. as well as lines and slave cyl etc...

the pivot ball and clutch fork should've been changed with new oem.

also adjust the clutch push rod under the dash so that most of the play is gone. leave just a little bit, do not preload the master cyl.
you may need to repair your pedal assembly if its worn as well.

do a search for proper clutch adjustments.

i just got my 99 gst and it occasionally pops out of 1st when i take off so ive been just keeping moderate pressure on the shifter while in first.. any suggestions? im going to try changing the gear oil to penzoil syncromesh although im not sure if thatll really do anything for my problem but its just regular maintenance

Could you elaborate more on what you mean by bent parts? My talon used to be an auto and i was wondering if there was any kind of extra support/bracing on the firewall where the clutch is mounted on the manual shells versus the auto. I don't want to put a heavy clutch in my car if its going to flex the firewall out and cause these dis/engaging issues.

Do not use penzoil syncromesch use redline mt90 with a mix of heave shockproof or a gl4 equivalent gear oil

using lucas gear oil helped for a while, then i lost 2nd and third.. turns out i had bent puch rods, putting a bind on the forks.... hard shiftin with lots of hp and torque surely plays a role of the stock f33 trans... i suggest buildnt a new trans with better parts and useing lucas... mine shifts and hauls azz perfectly now

sounds like clutch not engaging or disengaging. try to get it taken care of asap before things get worse. word of advice, if you are ever in a situation where you have to rebuild or by a new tranny, always replace the clutch.
