I am having overheating problems. I opened my radiator cap to see if my coolant was circulating and it is moving very slow. I have already replaced my radiator and thermostat just in case it was clogged but it did not fix anything. I have also tried flushing out the cooling system. Does this mean that it has to be my water pump or could there be a clog somewhere else? Is there any other reasons that the coolant might not circulate?

Thanks,
Brandon

Did you change the water pump your self? If so did it have a plastic or metal Impeller? If it was in fact plastic I would say thats the culprit. Also was it a reman or new? With remans they reuse the old impeller an press it off and then press it back on and they can come lose.

Take off the hose right before and right after the thermostat housing. Hook up a garden hose to either side of the lines and turn the hose on full this will check the entire cooling system for a clog and it will also unclog it for you. I would do this before getting into a water pump change will save you money and time if its something as simple as needing a flush.

I had a shop do it for me but I bought the water pump from jnztuning and it was oem. I am going to try to just take out the thermostat to see how the coolant flows but I will also try to flush the system again to see if I can get anything out.

heres how i always checked if my thermostat was bad.

get a pot of water
put it on the stove
drop the thermastat in the water
and heat the water up
heat it up good and hot
see if it opens or not .

if it doesnt, then you got a bad therm.

I might be having a similar problem. Please keep us updated on this.
