What a deal... MY AWD Swap.. good deal or not?

so here is my 95 Talon TSI AWD that i am picking up for 500 dollars tomorrow... i am using this car as a donor car for my 98 Spyder GST... im going to make my Spyder AWD... here are some pics of the talon is this a good deal for 500 dollars?

the only thing wrong with the Talon is the clutch is slipping and the strut towers are rusted pretty bad, it also has 175,000 miles on it.... would you buy it?

i have heard on the spyders it is a lot easier then on the coupe gst's but i'm sure i will run into all sorts of problems... but i have plenty of time... im going to have to get a clutch and a flywheel tho.. probably a ACT 2600 and a Firzda streetlight flywheel... i think that is how you spell it correct me if i'm wrong.

Lol I can't believe you are buying that off xceedspeed but I guess more power to ya. $500 aint that bad...even though it's not worth that much but to each his own. I would have offered him 2-3 hundred probably. Hopefully the drivetrain holds up. Good luck with the swap.

Well the swap alone is worth 500 dollars and i have helped with one so it shouldn't be to bad... This spyder is about to be a pretty solid car. To bad it already weighs more than my car ... It should be tight

Yes, I would buy it. It is worth more than that. You can sell the wheels, tires, doors and the hood to get your $500 back. That still leaves the whole drivetrain, interior, gas tank etc. I wish I could find a deal on a 2g. You could barely find a broke down RS for that here.

there are so many DSM that are broke down in michigan you can find these cars in anyones back yard

Not around my area! DSM are pretty rare in Michigan hence Detroit Muscle, but in Ohio there is plenty of them, btw my buddy did an awd swap on his spyder and it came out sweet. And honestly those strut towers dont seem bad at all i seen WORSE, if i had to buy that car i would make it a track car, cause the outside seems clean, for $500 its def a steal. Good Luck

i drive down the back roads here in jackson/albion area and i see dsm's all over in the back yards i even have stopped and knocked on peoples doors just to see if they will sell their statue in the back yard but they always say no that they have plans.....

You weren't there in full effect of how bad the drivers side actually is. Oh and the passenger was either bondoed or poorly welded in previous years. Driver side door is rusting out too. Trans is ####ed too I'm sure it's not just the clutch. Overall it's not a bad buy for $500 though...I wanted it for a project but it doesn't have that kind of potential.

yah like i said i just am swaping it im sending the trans out to get it rebuilt by TRE in kalamazoo and im sure i will go through the rear end and fix everything but hey 500 ill take it... he was asking 1500

i sure will guys... i will post pics of the talon tommarow when i get it... and yes i think im going to do a write up with the spyder.... new tranny LSD front i believe im going to swap in my stroker motor that i have laying around and a 20g turbo or possibly a HX35 or HX40... with 1000cc injectors and DSMLINK but im still unsure what i want to run with my setup but i will post a lot of pics and do a write up thanks guys im sure ill need all your help soon... wish me luck

WRONG.It's lot harder on Spyders and I know because I did 3 AWD swaps.

yea i just had a guy i met a few weeks ago finish his AWD conversion it took him a while but he didn't work on it day and night. hes a member on here but i dont know his member id. I just picked up a great deal myself. i picked up a 95 gst that runs and everthing with a 6 bolt swap for 1400. i was excited. the only thing wrong is that it knocks a little when you get into it so i think its a valve. good luck with the swap. it will be pretty sweet to know that there arent very many of what you will be driving on the street.
