I have had my eclipse for 6 years and have played with it. Now I'm looking to do some serious work. I want to fully build my motor to its full capability. I know where to get some parts like rods and pistons and prebuilt racing heads. I just want to know where i can get my upgraded bearings, rings gaskets and other rebuild kit essentials. Also how much HP can the stock 420a crankshaft hold up to?

The stock crank is very strong, and i bought acl bearing of off ebay for a lot less than any where else. cimotorsports has the largest selection from what ive found, but they are slow to ship

Swap that motor for the 6bolt motor

What a horrible idea. It would take way to much work and money to do that swap.

Ebay has some pretty good prices on rods/pistons, there are also several site that sell 420a build parts. Cant think of any off the top of my head but you should be able to find them searching around some. You dont really need to upgrade the stock head. You can if you want to but its going to cost alot more if you get one that the work has been done on. I just ported and polished mine slightly and rebuilt it with stock parts and cams. It would save you a little money

Reasons not to swap:
1. The car is a 2g N/T, and therefore has a 420a. A swap would cost loads of money.
2. You'd still have a FWD car.
3. For the price of swapping to a 4g63, you could have a GST or GSX for the same price or cheaper.

I just picked up another 420a block to start from scratch the guy I got it from said I should upgrade to the 2.4 crank apparently it will give me more power in the bottom end. Has anyone ever done or heard of this being done and if so was it an exact fit or did the journals need to be machined?

2.4 crank won't fit in the 2.0 block. To do this, you need a 2.4 block with internals.

After which, you'll need to do a little wire swapping on the coil and injectors, fab a new oil pan and passenger motor mount. flip your cam gears over, and some other little things.
