My 96 GSX AWD TURBO BUILD W/new bearings and lifters

Hi I bought an 96 AWD gsx feb. 6th on craigslist..
1996 Eclipse gsx AWD TURBO Beautiful 5 speed!!!!!! It is a 5-speed with gray leather int. If you read the ad you'll know...I talked him down to $2200, I think I got a kick ass deal, and Im building a 6 bolt on the side to put in it..so ill post pics of everything I can and keep you guys posted..So far I'm currently replacing the lifters with revised lifters and putting new topline main and rod bearings in, and doing several oil changes...to be continued..

oh yea it came with a new t-25 turbo on it, I was just showing the pics because thats what made the bearings and lifters go bad on my vehicle...

...no rust at all, the car made it to IL in 07' and been in cali. the rest of its life..will post pics of the interior and engine tonite..


p.s. Its all stock no need for drag radials.....YET...

haha, yea me too.. The first eclipse I owened had 18l original miles and it was a silver 1999 GS-T, 5-speed black leather..

A t25 is built by garret it has an elbow exit at the bottom of the turbo and its small as shit. A tdo5 is a mitsu housing used on most of there turbos. They use a J pipe which is the pipe coming off the top of the turbo to the intercooler. Most likely a 14b which is a stock 1st gen turbo but may be a 16g which is a larger turbo. Would need the numbers off the housing to know for sure.

I have another turbo and the #'s are 49178-0173G and it also says 05-12 and it has a mitsu logo on it, and the one thats on the car is Ge204H is on the flange, and 49189-02 00 is on the installed turbo any difference in them?

Im not sure what the other turbo you have is but I believe the one on the car is a 15g from a 3000gt. Should perform much like a 14b

thats weird because the one thats not on the car has a mitsu logo on it..

That was a damn sweet deal! I would buy a black clean GSX that isn't running for $2,200 anyday. Then fix it up. Can't wait to see how it looks when u drop it on some 18's.

Ok, so I finally got new bearings and lifters in. I got all the lifters installed come to find out when I was measuring the 1st and the last rod bearing gap...I should of did all 4 instead of assuming the wear was fine or even the bearings for that matter. Anyways come to find out when installing the 2nd bearing it had spun. So I was like oh sh!t. Now that I have the engine on my stand I've decided instead of rebuilding my 6 bolt that is now for sale I'm going to completely rebuild my 7-bolt. So I bought ALL NEW complete gasket set, ALL NEW timing components tensioner, BSE kit, Greddy timing belt, idler pulley, and tensioner pulley. Magnetic oil drain plug, another crank and rods. And I also bought Greddy boost gauge and exaust gauge with the grey tri pillar. I am also trying to trade my motorcycle for a complete turbo kit whick I already have 2 offers...So Im off to a good start.

I also found these rims on Craigslist for $200 w/tires that are like brand new. And only one rim is just starting to bubble a little bit but all the others look like the top one. I think I got a good deal.
