i have read numerous posts about oil in the pipes, but mine are horrendously filled with oil. i just put a (supposingly) new small 16g on, and now the car just looks like a bug killer. it smokes unstop at idle, while in the throttle, and any time in between.
it says oil is normal , but to what extent? is there any way to find if my prom is 1) valve seals, 2) rings, 3) turbo,4) or a combination of these? any help would be great
could the seals in a new turbo really be bad?????????????

Your turbo is done buddy. If its as much oil as you say than im 100% sure thats the problem. Valve seals and rings dont come anywhere close to the intercooler and would burn out the exhaust. Blowby can occur,if your rings are bad, causing excessive crank case pressure pushing oil out of the breather and into the turbos compressor(but thats highly unlikely as it would only be a few trickles/drops at most.)

Here's something a little easier to try....

Is your pcv system untouched? You may have a clogged pcv valve, or your valve cover breather line could be blocked or clogged as well..

This caused big problems... ANd is alot easier to check than takin turbo off...

i checked the pcv valve and put a new one. nothing is clogged , but the car does have a lot of pressure out the valve cover

Was your car smoking before you installed the new turbo?Things do sometimes come fubared from the factory. Is your turbo an EBAY special or the real deal?

alot of pressure out of valve cover? Whats alot? 100,000+ engine? smoked before larger turbo install. I know it's hard to resist the bolt on power but you may be better off making sure the engine is in top shape and then build from there. It will probably save you dough in the long run.

This same thing happened to mine, but it wasn't bad turbo. At first I had thought it was turbo so I had replaced it with a 20G. Well it smoked still with a brand new turbo. . I kinda wish it would have been my turbo again. I hate to tell you but I had to replace almost everything in motor. My pistons were toast, rings were just as bad, crank was messed up. Ended up buying a .40 over race short block with Weisco Pistons and eagle rods, spent close to $8,000. I used my head which has to be taken to the machine shop and worked on. Now it runs like a dream and don't smoke any.

Yeah i couldn't see it being all of that just because it didn't smoke hardly any even after sitting for awhile before installing this turbo. But now its blowing oil threw everything and smoking like crazy.I know anything is possible but everything points to that turbo and i got a good feeling that guy sold it to me so cheap for a reason.I'm just going to rebuild it and go from there.A fresh rebuild can only give my turbo more lifetime in the future anyways.

(Thanks everyone for the input)

It's unlikely that it would leak oil on the compressor side, nor should it leak immediately.

Check to make sure your oil drain isn't kinked in any way as this would prohibit any oil from draining from the turbo. If you're 100% sure you think the turbo is dead, contact the guy you bought the turbo from. I'm sure he's a friendly, cooperative guy. ;)

Yeah i cant complain i hardly payed anything for the turbo but i would of rather him be honest. But I can't accuse him cause maybe he didn't know cause he got it from someone else.I just have oil everywhere threw my ic all threw my intake mani. All over my turbo wheel.air intake.Stuff is just circulating threw everything.I'm about to go take it off anything i should look for to diagnose the problem??

man that is unfortunate..... i had the same problem on my laser turbo, and bought a rebuild kit on the web for 35 bucks. it solved my problem. It might be cheaper than buying a new turbo as long as wheels are good

Ok guys i need someone who knows turbo's.I have it apart and my shaft has grooves in it.Would that cause my oil to by pass and get threw my system i know im probably going to half to get a new one but i don't want to put the rebuild kit if that's whats doing it..help fast!!

Shaft grooving = bad news.

That tells me that particular turbo was deprived of oil at some point in it's career. Even if it were freshly rebuilt when you bought it, the shaft grooving would pretty much destroy the journal bearings almost immediately causing the shaft to wobble.

You can replace the shaft (PM me, I have a supply of new TD05H turbines) or send it to a turbo shop where it can be ground down and resized. You'll need to purchase new undersized journal bearings as well if you choose to have the shaft ground.

I'd be contacting the seller right about now.

Give me a minute I'm uploading pictures. Is there anyways i can just pop the turbine wheel off this shaft and replace the shaft.I had a full rebuild kit with a new bearing and all.And i was reading and it said either it was starved or it had dirty oil running threw it.pictures will be up in a few minutes guys.

Yeah i thought so!.Not saying any names but someone thought they came offROFL

Now these grooves are pretty deep i ran my nail across them and it stopped my finger dead.Kinda made me shriek to see how bad it was.

Here some pictures.

And how about pricing for these??If you don't want to post it on here I'll p.m you.
