[RESOLVED] GM Synchromesh for an Automatic Tranny?

Is GM Synchromesh for manual trannys only or will it work for my automatic GST?

I searched my ass off and could not find the answer to this specifically.

Go to any parts store and ask for Chrysler SPII fluid - It's made for DSM auto trannies. Even Castrol makes a ATF that is SPII compatible.

Dump something else in there and say "goodbye" to the clutches....

X2! he's absolutely right! I've been told to only run Chrysler/Mitsu auto tranny fluid. It comes stock in our cars, so of course its good. Made to last a long time as well. Its what I run in my auto gsx with a qt or lucas..

stick to the chrysler tranny oil or really forget about your clutches

syncromesh is really thin oil and wil not protect your AUTO Tranny

make sure that you change the filter first.

All of these are horrible Ideas.

Run B&M synthetic, Redline "Racing" ATF synthetic, or Amsoil ATF. Need 8-9 quarts probably.

Anything else is garbage in a DSM auto trans. The OEM fluid sucks too.

No, Synchromesh is grease. It is NOT for automatics, which use a friction fluid.
