car stalling with headlights on

Ok so iqnore then name of this thread because i just went out there and now its just dieing as soon as i start it up. It will run for maby a sec and then its dead. I can hold down the gas and it will not die. its got new spark plugs, new alt belt, and new battery. Is there any tricks to seeing if its the alt its self?

Hey i just went for a test drive with my car and i noticed that it likes to stall when my headlights are turned on. Also when i have my dash lights on. Other wise it idles at 750. When headlights are on it idles at about 550-600. 1g 1991 eagle talon tsi awd

Seems like yous losing power. Maybe battery or the alt.? Could be wrong but it's somewhere to start.

Could the alt just start dieing and not be dead. Or is it a "it will work or it wont" type of thing

It has the stock Alt in it btw new battery

yea i'm getting the same probelm with my car, acutally my alt belt squeaks to start out with, i've tightened it but it happens when the alt stops tryin make power to send back to the battery.. i had the bearin on my alt go out about 2 months ago so i replaced it i'll probably have to end up replacin the whole alt this winter

first check how many volts you have in your battery when its off then start it up and see how much you have then
next try this, start your car up let it run for a couple of mins and then turn it off, touch the front of the alt and see how hot it is, you might have the same problem i did

The only thing I can think of is taking off and going to AutoZone to get it tested. Good Luck

Sounds like your alt. charge the battery up so you can start it. then if you don't have a multimeter you can just unplug the batt and she should stay running, if no accessories are on. autozone will test it at no charge

If your alt and battery is new it could be your ISC not wroking properly

I was havin the same problem with my car a few months ago. I'm not sure if this will help you out since you are a turbo. I was goin to replace the whole alt when i looked at my fuse box and saw that a fuse was blown. I looked up what the fuse what and it was the 80amp sub fuse for the alt. I changed it and that fixed the problem. Saved me a lot of money. Hope this helps out some.

Doesnt hurt to check for loose grounds or connections i had a loose one on the starter an it would start up an die real fast
