Alright, I have searched and have come up with conflicting answers every time.

I have a 1992 Talon TSi AWD with what appears to be a bad TCU. I have Park, Reverse, Neutral, and 3rd. The shift are very rough back and forth. From what I have read I need a new TCU. I have found a new one from a 1991 that is being stripped. Both the cars are Automatic, AWD. The only difference is that mine is a 1992, and the one I'm taking is a 1991.

I have seen them listed with different part numbers, and similar. I have also seen people say that it will, or won't work. I'm just looking for a straight answer.

Also, a kid on my local car forum had the same problems, and his turned out to be a blown fuse? If it helps he said it was the #9 fuse and he has a N/T Talon. Is there any way that could be correct?

I don't currently have the car at my house and I probably wont be able to get to it till this weekend, but my opportunity to buy this TCU is very short, IE: tomorrow.

Thanks for the help in advance!

my check engine light also turned on and it states that my tcu is no good. but my car runs and shifts like butter. however, it is annoying having the light appear on my dash. gL with your issue!

This could just mean the TCU is in Limp mode. The TCU goes into limp mode when it detects a problem with the trans.

Low fluid/ TOO much fluid/ WRONG FLUID/ Bad solenoid/s /Bad speed sensors/ failing torque converter/ faulty wiring/

Im beting its a problem with the tranny and NOT the TCU.

The tranny is fine. I have tested it with a TCU I borrowed out of a friends car and it also worked. I just need to have my original questions answered.

Thanks,
KyleJ

From what I have found, the only trannys that are not compatible are the 1990's. That shift controller is fancy, but I'll be swapping to a 5 speed as soon as winter is over.

Thats what I've been working on, but my local DSM scene is highly favored twards 2g. Ya'll know how it goes.

Yeah, all the local yards here have my name and number if they come across one, and I check craigslist almost every day for car parts for my various projects.
