hey, i have a 94 non turbo 2.0 and i found a 91turbo engine in a junk yard and i am going to buy it to rebuild. i was wondering if my 94 transmission will work the 91 transmission. i heard it will 100 percent bolt up but i am not sure. I was wondering if anyone knew for a fact. Thanks. And also what else i would need electronic wise to convert it to a turbo.

Well 1st of all? is your Eclipse AWD or FWD? what model motor did it come from :)? Also if this 1 motor you bought has a trany attached to it look at the bolt paterns in such, ya never know :)

it was out of a 91 fwd turbo and the tranny was stollen out of it like 2 weeks ago. it is obviously a 6 bolt. my eclipse is fwd also.

Yeah it will all bolt up. The 2.0 engines up to 94 were all 4g63. so your 94 engine is the same as the 91 you are buying(except for the internals or course).

ok thanks alot, i was just making sure becasue i did not want to build a motor that wont align with my transmission. Thanks for your response.

Transmission will bolt up no problem, but your gears are not as tall as a turbo transmission. All it means is you will fly through those gears a little faster and probably have some mad acceleration. I'm trying to find the link with the gear ratio info. But you will be fine.

I had a non turbo tranny and destroyed it, along with the clutch. What kind of power you going to make
with your car my non turbo didnt last but a few months.

I told you it would work. as long as you don't go dumping mad boost through it your trans should work fine, i really doubt you're going to go stripping off gears and such. If you go trying to make it a full race motor (which i know you aren't doing) it'll have some problems, but since you're only going for a basic upgrade then it'll be okay. I do have to ask how built the turbo engine that was put in this other non-turbo car was? if it destroyed the clutch and transmission. I just don't see that happening off an almost stock turbo motor.

That and of course if you are shifting right. I can see increased wear on the clutch but with proper shifting, there should be no problems.

iff the rebuild is mainly stock with a set of cams (272 tops) and a 16g, what do you think the results would be with the tranny? clutch would be upgraded to counteract wear, but i want to clear things up about the trans. i don't forsee it being a big problem, but i'd like to hear from someone thats done it.

My car was stock, at the time of tranny explosion. I had the maft but everything else was stock on the car. My boost was around 9psi at the time also, I had a friend who did the same set up using a non turbo tranny, i found out how long mine lasted. Not saying his set up wont hold up, this is just my experience, no way would it hold up now with my upgrades.

alright thanks for the input. I just don't see it as having a high failure rate, or you wouldn't see so many "'9X Eclipse N/T (With Turbo)" on peoples information. I'd like to have someone with one of those chime in. If someone's holding X-lbs of boost on a N/T motor that has 9:1 compression and theres is holding then that would be a good sign.
