Okay, so essentially I broke down on the freeway the other day with billows of steam and that very distinctive sweet smell. And my trans is already being VERY finicky about going into 2 of the 5 gears, so i know i'm in for a motor AND trans rebuild.
I've got a guy to rebuild my trans and I'm going to take care of the motor. In the long run, i want to run a stroker motor at the 500hp mark. So what I'm looking for is essentially what brand names, sites to buy from, etc etc etc.
From what i gather, if i put a 4g64 crank into my 4g63, I'll have a 2.3L correct? And going through different sites, i see "100mm crank" would i be correct ini assuming that the "100mm crank would be the stroker crank vs the 88mm? And I see the term knife edged thrown around here and there. What is that, and why would i want it?
As for the rods and pistons, obviously I'm going to want forged, but are there any preferred brand names? And is there any benefit to using "H" rods as opposed to "I" rods?
I was thinking about putting a crank scraper in it also, would there be any reason not to?... or are they really all that beneficial?
And as for my bearings, what should i look for when i go to buy those?
Essentially just let me know what to look for with all of this stuff.
Thanks in advance guys
