high boost and engine stalling?? fuel cut???

Hey all, Just traded my bike for a '93 eclipse gsx. I have a couple problems..first off my tranny (5-spd) has no third gear..I'll probably end up just getting a different tranny but was just checking to see what it might be...the problem and reason for this post is...Yesterday while in second gear I accelerated and the stock boost gauge spiked all the way up and the "cel" light came on and the car fell on its face...it also seems like around 4k rpms it wants to sputter. I've read post all night last night and don't know where to start. Is the car not getting enough air? maybe not enough fuel? or the intake side leaking air out somewhere?? should I remove the ecu and check/replace the capacitors? any help would be great.....thanks

The transmission is more than likely a synchro issue, its a DSM trademark. I have had several missing gears over the years (did not mean for that to rhyme).

As for the car falling on its ace it probably fuel cut. To diagnose this a little better, What turbo and what boost are you running? What fuel mods do you have? what are you using to tune with?

Three things...
1. Get an Aftermarket boost gauge. The stock one is worthless.
2. Do a boost leak test. If you don't know what one is, you probably need to do one.
3. If your car has a manual boost controller, turn it down until you get a boost gauge.
 
if your cutting out around 4k then you might need to change your spark plugs. and yes the stock boost gauge is very in accurate

the car is all stock and a boost gauge is at the top of my to do list. I drove the car today and it did alot better. I forgot to mention that the previous owner told me he didn't always run premium. Ive ran the tank to about empty and filled w/ premium (what an idot) and like I said it is doing better. No problems today. What else should I do to bring everything back to par after it not running on high octane if any. I'll look around on here and find more info on the boost leak test. Anyone made there own upper and lower IC pipes?? well thanks for the help and im sure it won't be the last time..LOL
