i have read the how to's on rewiring the fuel pump had was wondering. what are people doing for the inside of the tank? a friend of mine put a 255 pump in his car and after a month the car quit. he pulled the tank because he wasn't getting any fuel pressure and found this....

as you can see the wire shielding looks like it is melting off the wire.

The distance is too small to be noticeable for the voltage drop. More is lost in the connectors than the wire distance. While I commend the OP for taking the effort to get as much voltage and current to the pump as possible the return on it will be very small.
 
The biggest concern wasn’t the voltage drop. What we think happened was that the pump was drawing more current than the wire could handle and got hot. or the wire that got used didn’t agree with the fuel...I was just looking to see if anyone on here had changed wiring in the tank and if so what kind of wire did they use?
