I am rebuilding my car regardless.... new pistons, head, rings, bearings all the good stuff. I am leaving the balance shaft in because i like the smoothness.

92 Turbo FWD

Right now I have a fully rebuilt suspension from top to bottom. all bushings and anything that wears. Replaced struts with KYB GR2's. a 2g exhaust mani will be put on as well as when i go to the track I will have a striaght exhaust with just a cat. I plan on upgrading to the 93,94 big brakes with good pads and fixing my ABS. (I might only change front brakes too btw) I am rollin on Firestone Firehawk GT's and will continue to. I cannot afford to buy R Compounds and another set of wheels for use 3 times out of the year.

My questions and concerns are. Motor mounts, i wanted to fill my front and rear mount with poly. i am 90% sure this is a no no. LOL

and the big one....I wanted to make custom upper intercooler pipe for sake of boost leaks. It will run stock location, it will just be made of mandrel bent exhaust piping and be welded together.

will this pull me out of stock class??

I'm kind of new to autocrossing to...only get out there once and a while. are you rebuilding the engine stock?? if you build the engine(not stock), then you get instantly bumped to street modified. and as long as your springs are the same on your suspension, you should just stay in stock. as for the intercooler piping, i'm not sure. basically, aslong as you don't change your springs from stock style springs, and don't change your turbo, inectors or engine internals you should stay in stock class...or atleast just street prepared.

Correct. I autoxed my 93GSX quite a few times, I'm pretty positive just the tubing and the other mods will keep you in stock...if its an aftermarket intake(err filter) on the otherhand that WILL bump you up. I autoxed with stock spings an GR2's and the Dejon intake plumbing is the only visible engine mod. Otherwise my super sidemount is ofcourse in the stock location and the ported 16G look stock enough. Not that I was lying I just wanted to see what the inspectors noticed before they asked me anything. ; P

Technically the 2g manifold, the intercooler piping, and the 93-94 brakes would bump you our of stock. But they are all things that would be hard to notice and not provide with much if any advantage over stock so I wouldn't worry about it.

And yea, modding the MM's would bump you also.

I was under the impression that since the 2g mani is from another similar production car that it would not matter. same with brakes??

it'd be hard to prove that they are non stock anyways though.

despite running in the stock class i have ALOT to do before this spring....LOL

it's a k&N OE fitment style filter..... but now i just realized that I have removed the top half of the mounting bracket and cut a small but pretty obvious whole behind the headlight.

Yea, its those type stock items that are easily over looked. That's why I said "technically." They are rules and if you ever went to the national level then and only then would it really make a difference. The rule concerning stock part swaps is that that it can only come from the same year. From like a different trim level or something. But that you have to swap everything that makes it that trim to be legal. For example you have a Eclipse RS and you want to swap in a GST motor. You would also have to swap over EVERYTHING else that made it a GST like the sunroof and any other options like that. The engine swap alone with out swapping over everything else would put you in Street Modified instead of a stock class. Just an example. Like I said though yours would be easily overlooked and I wouldn't even worry about it. Turbo cars are hard to tech anyways. Stock appearing turbo upgrades or boost controllers are hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for. Fortunately in auto-x if the person has to cheat the rules that much they probably 1)won't be competitive and/or 2) they won't be a regular attendee.

I'm not knocking your idea, but, why not just build the car to the street prepared specs and run that class?

The 2g mani will definitely bumpt you out of stock. Switching the 2gbov to a 1gbov bumps you out etc. Even removing the bcs restrictor is not allowed in stock. Just have fun and run in the class that you fit. I am in SM and would not be competitive if I spent 10k$ because in the end we have a platform that is much less than ideal. Also your bushings probably bump you out of stock. Download and read the SCCA rulebook for specifics or you can post on the SCCA forum.
