um all you have to do is start the car and walk to the back of the car and listen to the obvious lope in the exhaust, that will tell you if you have 272's in there quite noticeable.

Since i do not have hks cams someone will have to back me up on this, but I believe that if you take the oil cap off and look inside you can see the HKS engraved on the end of the camshaft.

It'll blow up in your face. No, really, the worst something can happen with the valve cover off is if a fly got stuck in there and dirtied the cams with its guts. Unless you're a complete moron and start hitting things with a hammer. Go ahead. Pull it off. Let your eyes wander over the magnificient 4g63 with the top off. There's no shame to it. We all do it.

Never take the valve cover off without professional help. Just kidding.

Yeah if you cant tell by listening there not in there, but go ahead take it off and get to know your car better from the inside!

Well he is not asking how can he know if he has HKS or not: He clearly say he is going to have the shop put his HKS cams in it. And yeah you could remove it just dont run it like that.

No He wants to see if the shop put them back in. No risk in pulling the valve cover. Just remember it is very easy to over tighten the bolts when re installing and crack the cover.

Keep in mind there is a gasket there and if it hasn't been replaced recently you might end up doing that too. It's a very easy job, just have to have the gasket.

i was wondering what would happen if i take off my valve cover? i want to see if the shop put my HKS cams back on it

There should be an obvious lope as everyone has said, find another DSMer nearby on stock cams and compare idle, look on youtube for HKS 272 DSM idle.. Or pull the valve cover off, it should only take you 10-15 minutes to take it off and put it back on. Also would be a good time to change your valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets and half moon seal if you haven't already :thumb:

Damn in the time it took me to write that up three people already posted.. Lol.
