3" Open DP, O2 Sensor Question??

I am wanting to run a 3" open DP from PR. I know there's an O2 sensor after the cat, correct? What do I do with that sensor if I run an open DP?? (And yes I know it will be loud)

Zip tie it somewhere.

Keep in mind you will:
Throw a cel from the rear O2 reading something other than post-cat exhaust.
Fail inspection/emissions.

Will that affect performance? Is there an O2 simulator that will make the CEL go away?
 
You could always make an O2 simulator for it. Only costs about $7-$10 with parts from radio shack.

If you zip tie it, make sure it's somewhere that it won't get caught in your driveshaft. If possible, secure it close to the outlet of the DP, and it'll be less likely to throw a CEL. My DP and catback have a flange clocking issue. I left the catback hanging there, O2 still in place, haven't had a chance to cut the flange and reweld it yet, and I haven't thrown the CEL for the rear O2 yet.
 
You might get lucky and not throw a CEL. I've been catless for 2 years and have not had it show up once.
 
Yea, maybe ill get lucky, but maybe not. I might make that O2 simulator...looks fairly easy. Its just a matter of how I would enclose it, etc. I don't even know where that guy bolted that box. I might try it different.

But anyways, maybe ill just hang the rear O2 and see if it throws a code...knowing my luck it will.

If it does, will there be a loss in performance, or will the light just be an annoyance?
 
Wow you guys... He has a 1g! No 2nd o2 sensor, you will be fine with an open dp.
 
My bad! Sorry I started it. It is kind of confusing reading everything here because sometimes they don't say their car is a 1g or 2g...so everything I read was about 2g's and the 2nd O2 sensor. So OK guess I won't worry about it. Thanks LOL
 
As stated above. You have a 1g not a 2g. your car is OBD1 not obd2. 1gs only have a front o2 sensor which is located on the o2 housing. 2gs have 2 o2 sensors.
Just unbolt your exhaust from the o2 housing first then the hangers. Slide it out. Assemble your new exhaust, slide it down the car, supported with jacks, bricks, 2 other people or whatever works for you. Then hang it with the hangers. Finally when its supported via the hanggers, then bolt it up to your o2 housing. Check for fitment. Sometimes it might rub against the oil pan, transfer case, drive shaft, and or rear heat shield thats closest to the rear diferential. It will depend on how the exhaust was made. Other than that, thats all there is. Take it for a spin ans pay close attention to left hand turns to see if there is any rubbing or noise.
