my friend who is or shall i say was a big dsm guy has a large box full of different odds and ends for me to throw onto to my car for aesthetic and power value, among those parts, is an intercooler, much like the one below with the ic piping somewhat installed already, (mind you these are photos as quickly as i could find them on google images) BUT in several threads i have seen and several intercooler package's i have seen, the intercooler meant for a 1g dsm is like the one with the outlet and inlet facing forward, My concern is, has anyone plumbed up the flat intercooler instead of the front facing one? if so how feasable was it and was it as or less or more complicated than the other?:talon:

I would go with a different intercooler route, the 1st intercooler pic is what we call a long route, looks nasty, because of the extra piping that will be exposed and you can't bolt up your bumper support, 2nd intercooler looks better, you can do a short route with that core.I would just save up and get a Punishment intercooler kit IMO

the easier route for piping is usually the best way to go.

u can pick up piping at any exhaust shop and an intercooler itself off ebay for real cheap.

also dont forget using tbolt clamps and double ply couplers.

also check for boost leaks periodically things work themselves loose from time to time and might get u a rough ride when they do leak.

ha i like your several helpful posts, so on 1g dsm's, is there any easy way to plumb the piping back in on the driver side as well as the passenger side? because if all else fails, ill just put a u pipe on the driver side and hope for the best...?

I agree with fwdmaster.I have seen somewhat of a short route piping with the side endtank setup.Had a fabricated "u pipe" as you said. Not sure how easy it is.Iv had both long and short route and my experiance is that long route is a pain in the a**.Little or no inner bumper can make even as small collision very costly.Sell the innercooler and piping. Then buy a short route set up.
