[RESOLVED] The front cv axel in my 95 gsx broke can i just make it rwd?

Yesterday my front cv axle broke on my 95 gsx, i was wondering if it would hurt it to just run on rwd if it would not hurt it than how could i do it? i just wont have enough money for cv axles for 2 weeks when i get paid,

No. Stock driveline parts aren't strong enough for you to do that reliably.

No, you cannot make it rear wheel drive. It just doesn't work that way.

Either replace the CV axles or don't drive it. But don't drive it broken or you risk damaging a whole lot more.

its not worth it your speedo say 80 before your actually doing 30 since how the power power is transfered. I've tried it, and trust me you'll be mad at the resaults

Buschar has a conversion, but you have to run an auto trans...

RWD conversion is possible but I whole lot money better of getting a new cv joint.

thank you for all the help u guys gave me, my car is a M/T, but i guess i will just drive my gas hog truck for a while unless any body has a cheap way to fix it that i can do for a week or two.

the CV axle on my FWD 1g was only $59 at carquest for the drivers side axle, I wouldn't think there would be much of a difference between the two. They didn't have it instock that day but they had it shipped there the next morning.

Get an autozone piece.

At first I thought autozone was crap also, but they've since impressed me with the quality of their parts. Lifetime warranty ain't bad either.

thank you for all the help guys, i just decided to sell my subs(they were to heavy anyway )and i went and got a new one today will be here in 2 days from autozone thanks again

I'm a bit late in my entry in this thread...but oh well...

Not running the front axles, or not running the drive shaft to the rear can cause the center diff to burn up real real quick. I have heard of people welding it to get around this, but I can't imagine it would make for a nice drive in a street car. Just thought I would throw that in here.

my axle bracket broke on my 95GSX. It sucked cause the axle would pop out and the car would barely move. But now im takin care of that problem

yeah my friend told me that they made lockers that you could buy for about $200 that go in place of the cv joints to make it rwd but i just got the joint today at autozone for $139 + $50 core, i would rather have an awd any ways but thanks thanks for the posts

on the evos 8 and 9 you can take the front axles out and put something to stop the fluid frm coming out and it becomes rwd, thats how the fast and furios tokyo drift ones where done
