Should I keep the CAT on or remove it

Well there is the whole legality of needing one.. but used cats sell for quite a bit.

is it a high-flow cat ? if so just leave it the restriction on that is minimal and wont affect performance at all that much
or you can just run a test pipe so you can switch when needed.
:talon:

I dont mind the legal part since having a aftermarket muffler is already ilegall and I have one so. and yeah it does sell for quite a bit It was new when installed only paid $100/w installation it was a cousin of mine that works in a muffler shop and is a 3.5" inlet/outlet and I've only used it for a month

I dont know if is a high flow cat in my opinion I dont think so

If you want to get rid of it get rid of it. Performance wise it'll be better, and you can sell the damn thing and get some money. The only downside is if you get busted it will cost alot.

i want to put a Magnaflow cat back system in my car
is it legal?
will i pass smog?

right now all i have is a custom muffler
3'' in
4.5" out

is a high flow cat better?
is a high flow cat better then a straight pipe?

keep the cat if its hiflo...itd be a shame to get stopped for exhaust noise and get a 2500 dollar ticket for no cats.
WTF

I know all laws are different in different states but its a $110. And most state troopers aren't about to get on there hands and knees to look under your car for a cat.

The differences power-wise you will see between a high flow cat and a straight pipe are negligible. Sound-wise, the straight pipe will be louder, but then again that is dependant on the cat.

Well since all the crackheads started stealing them and everyone was selling them the price droped significantly. Back a few months ago that cat was worth 120 now it worth 30. Platinum is now worth the same as gold it was up to 1500 per ounce.

I haven't checked pricies recently but i sold two of them for a little over a hundred bucks awhile back. Damn people and there Saw-zaws.

I personally think you should have them flange the piece they cut out (or a replacement straight pipe) for a test pipe. Then have them flange the cat as well. Then you have both options, and have it covered the next time you get emissions. That is how my car is set up, but as I have gotten older I leave the cat on until I am at the track. Less unwanted attention, plus I'm sure that the people behind me appreciate not having watery eyes from sucking my fumes...ROFL

Hey guys I checked the CAT while I was at the garage changing my windshield and yeah is three inches I dont know where they were going by telling me it was 3.5 but they got me. Any ways I was thinking of stripping it out but am going to have to take it to my cousin so he could remove it since he welded in there and there is no way of stripping it

ROFLROFLROFLROFL My buddy got $40 bucks, scrap metal went down the drain, not that I care, I would remove the CAT man, I noticed a much quicker responce and i personaly like the loudness, then again im DC Headers with 2.5 IN all the way back No Tip at all hehe!
