ok well this light has been coming on in my car, and for the past like week or so i thought it was my transmission. so i was gunna get it fixed. but i find out today that it was the oil light..and that i have been driving without oil in my car. so now i have a little bit of rattle inside the engine. and someone told me that i need to either put stp inside it to try and make is quiet and then sell it or get another engone. but here is what i want to know. is there no other way to fix it without spending a lot of money? or is my dsm doomed for death?

the engine still runs so its still has life left on it, you could try using a thicker base oil from now on and see how that works out but you also need to pinpoint the problem that led you with no oil in the first place.

i love my car too much to sell her, if i found for certain that the engine was toast i would rebuild it or get a used one. :talon:

Sorry to inform, but I had a similar situation on a new 16g install. ( Friend bottomed out oil return bolts, I didn't know, left oil trail for 13 miles.)
I was at an intertersection and I heard a rattling noise and turns out, once I got my car checked out... Spun every main and rod bearing. Annhilated my crank journals.

So now 8 months later I have a fully built block that is going back in this weekend. So your rattling noise may actually be the death of your motor soon. It may be in best intentions to check it out. You may be able to salvage it for minimum price, such as just replacing the main and rod bearings. If not, get ready to become a DSM mechanic... :beatentodeath:
