IS IT POSSIBLE TO PUT A SR20 MOTOR IN A 95 MAXIMA? THIS KID IS CALLING ME OUT AND HIS FRIEND SAID HE HAS IT. I HAVE A 91 TSI, WOULD I WIN, IF HE DOES HAVE THE SR20 MOTOR, IS POSSIBLE? NOW EVERYONE IS CALLING ME A ##### AND SAYING IM SCARED.
SO NOW I WANT TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE. PLEASE ANSWER SOON!!!!!!

THANX,
JOHN

ummm no... the SR20 is a 4cyl all maximas have V6s, also if he knows how to drive the 95 maxes were running low 15s stock(5spd)

It could be possible, but not really worth it unless its an sr20det. Those can have pretty good power. I don't really see why anyone would do that, because the maximas v6 is pretty nice and good for some power....

maximas are rwd, and i'd think that just about any 4cyl would be a waste... unless of course it's a beefed up honduh (i can smell the burning now), 420a, or 4g63.

Ok to clear this up for everyone. Maximas are front wheel drive. And there is such thing as a FWD SR20DET not sure what car they came in but they do make them and import them. But i wouldnt put one in a Maxy, Nissan makes a turbo charged version over in Japan i cant think of the name of it right now but i would think he would swap that engine in it instead of an sr20. So i would "think" him and his friends are just talking sh8t. Does his maxy have exshaust? Do you hear a turbo spooling? Do you hear a BOV? Does it sound like any other maxy? Answer those and you should be-able to tell. Even if he did have one and it was a stock sr20 then it should be interesting to see him run because his car isnt the lightest in the world. Let me know if he does have one i want to see some pictures of it.

wacky... i'd always thought that the maxima and altima were/are rwd... hmm... i wonder where i got that info?

the sr20 in the nissan sentra is an sr20de, not det but yes it is fwd

sr is the engine code
20 represents 2.0 liter engine
d stands for dohc
e stands for electronic fuel injection
t stands for turbo, tt stands for twin turbo.

Well isn't this a bumblef#ck of distorted and wrong information. NO a SR20DET is not a bolt-in affair on a Maxima, could it be done, yes. Do I think he has it..umm no, the motor mounts would have to be custom as well as the axles and a wiring harness. The SR20DET came in the Bluebird SSS (also in FWD and AWD configurations), it had 2 versions of this motor the early redtop version with a topmounted intercooler and a later front mount intercooled version of the motor that had a dull aluminum or black valve colver and is commonly called the "Avenir" SR20DET (the Bluebird is known as the Altima in the US). And "out there" this response is to you, are you actually serious about thinking that the 420A is a good performance motor with more options than a 3SGTE or a SR20DET? Both motors came with a variable valve timing version that produced 200 hp stock, NA. Those 2 2.0 4 cylinders have as much potential of any four cylinder and are more easily modded to ridiculous hp numbers than ANY open deck crappy ass Honda motor. PLEASE pull your head out of your butt before you make a larger fool of yourself or (if it could be possible) making yourself sound any more ignorant.

if the kid is going to make #### like that up... at least tell him to use an RB26DETT... then it would actually sound FAST!!:thumb:

cjburn, i would appreciate it if you'd not make any of your comments/insults so personal, that's how threads and accounts get closed. sure sure, bring up some crap about me being a whiny little @!#$!&, i expect it. and if you'd pay a little closer attention to how i worded my response, i said "i can smell the burning now," meaning that KNEW i would get flamed for saying that about honduh engines.
and remember... it's just a forum, not life or death
have a nice day
