If its not needed then why does he need the part number?The reason I ask is I am in the same boat.
 
i read somewhere that without the cap there's a chance vibrations can make you loose the biss screw, anyone else ever hear this?
 
I think the cap helps keep dirt/corrosion out of the BISS threads, making the screw easier to turn up and down. Some BISS screws are steel and not plastic, so I could see that being a problem with the dislike metals. Like 1992awdlaser said, I"ve seen them filled with RTV too. I don't run a cap, but I do give that hole a shot of compressed air at oil change/BLT time, just to get any crap out. Running the cap is mainly personal preference.

Wow im actualy going to order that cap now just to be in the BISS club.No really I am going to order it tomorrow.
