bov and engine problem

hey guys

i have a 96 eclipse gst. im having some problems with it. on any gear when i accelerate up to about 4k rpm it wont go any higher than that, like the rpm will just stop there and slowly go up but if you slowly let go of the gas and barely gass then it gradually goes up. this happens on all gears and i have no idea whats wrong with it. someone told me that it could be the idle control sensor or something??? idn and the previous owner told me that there was a crack in the stock bov. could that be the problem?
also i got a blitz bov but it has no gasket. i tried making one from some rubber gasket material but it sucks. do you know where i can get the gasket for it???

Side question: How does that Blitz sound? I've always been curious, I love my HKS but I've never heard one.

well to be honest it doesnt sound to bad, its really nice actually. but hks is definetly better.

Your running very rich. Do a boost leak test.

by running very rich could that effect on how high i can rev up the rpm before the problem happens? and how do i fix that?? and how do i test it?

Runs exactly like how my car does when the BOV pops off. You pressurize the intake tract, figure out where the air is coming from, then seal it off. If the BOV has a crack, change it. If you're leaking out a coupler, change it out, or tighten it down, or adjust it. If your manifold is leaking, change the gasket.

If the previous owner tells you your BOV is cracked, that's most likely it.

just from his BOV being cracked and i guess a major boost leak, that would cause it to kinda bog like that? my car used to do the same thing but i just cut the dump tube for the stock bov and it kinda helped. i know i just need to get a new one overall.

oh alright, i went to this performance shop today, and they said that they have to order a gasket in because blitz has a small warehouse or something. and it was gunna take a couple weeks=( also the threads on the bov have been stripped so now i dont even know what to do about that.

I might have to agree with the RTV then after all.And cant you find new screws like anywhere?

i dunno i checked like at ace hardware none of the screws would fit in. so i might have to rethread it or drill a bigger hole so the screw can go in all the way. or i could just look for a used cheap bov.

do you happen to have a squealling belts too. i am actually in the process of fixing the same problem. but i have had some squealling belts from rubbing the timing cover. i was told it was the harmonic balancer so i would search that if i were you and check it out.

im not sure about the harmonic balancer. for me im pretty sure its a boost leak. thats what im hoping it is at least. i think it was the stock bov, so hopefully after i put this in the problem will be fixed. the thing is i was told it was the idle control sensor, but i dont know why a sensor would cause the engine to run like that you know???

alright, what are you gunna do to get it fixed??? im pretty sure its just a leak. i took it for a spin right now with the stock bov. i put it in really tight. so right now while i was driving it was driving fun the turbo was spooling and i could rev it up to 6 thousand easy, before i couldnt even go past 3. but yea then the bov started to get loose and the problem was coming up again. so hopefully its just a bov problem.

sounds like your prob is the bov. if i were you i would get the dejon tool upper ic pipe and a 1g bov. thus you would get a lil better performance and fix all problems. im in the process of custom doing my uicp.

yea but i checked and the dejon upper ic pipe is expensive like 250 dollars and thats not even with the 1g bov, i would be better off just getting another used bov
