I've got two questions about the clutch on this car.

The car makes a squeaking noise when letting off the clutch when its cold. Is this the throwout bearing? If it is, will it need to be fixed or is it just an annoyance? Also, what all is involved in fixing this?

The second problem is that the car doesnt seem to shift very well sometimes. Especially in mid to high rpms in third. It doesn't grind at all, it just takes a while before it will go into gear. If you shift really fast it seems to get around that problem, but in normal shifting it gets annoying. I have already bled the clutch properly so that should be out of the way. Is the clutch just adjusted wrong or what?

No idea and I've babied it since I've had it. Its an upgraded clutch, probably a 2600 or equivalent by feel, but it was on it before I got the car. The clutch doesn't slip at all though.

mine will squeak at idle too when my foot is off the clutch. If, I push down just a little on the clutch, It goes away. When I let off, it comes back after a few seconds.

I believe you are describing a common symptom call a notchy trans. If it does not grind then all I can tell you is that the shift linkage may need to be adjusted. Also check the bushing at the selector linkage on top of the trans. If they are worn or trashed they may cause your problem. Hope that helps.

I'll look into that, however, that doesn't say anything about the clutch making that noise. What would that be?

I also want to add that the car has a short shift kit I think. I personally don't like it, and i've heard those can make the transmission notchy. How long should the factory shifter throw be? Also, is there an easy way to reverse a short shift kit?
