hey guys

i was just wondering if this would fit my 98 420a. its a Sohc Greddy Turbo kit complete w/ hks bov, engine management, walbro fuel pump, front mount intercooler, all piping, autometer boost and fuel gauge, greddy turbo timer w/harness. just need to know if it would fit me 420a because im thinking about boostin my eclipse.

thanks

you will need a manifold for sure and make some engine upgrades if your going high boost. also a boost controller would help. but as long as the piping and the manifold match up and the engine is taken care of it should work. it sux trying to boost a non boosted car. i have a base cobalt and it was rough due to the amount of time needed to make the engine able to support the turbo. if the engine is not upgraded you may have problems,

Are you speaking of "SOHC" as in "made for a Neon"?

Don't be a brand whore. The best turbo kits are ones you don't buy as a "kit". You'll save some money in the process.

I've never heard of a GReddy turbo kit for the 420a Eclipse. If you're thinking about boosting your car and don't feel like putting together a turbo kit yourself, check out Hahn Racecraft. They sell a really nice kit.

yea thats the only thing im worried about is that its a non boosted car and im tryna boost it. but i prob wont go any higher than 8 psi because i honestly dont think the engine will handle it, and what kinda engine upgrades wouold i have to make for higher boost?

thanks

Assuming your profile is correct, there are a few kits that WILL fit and work. The main one being a HAHN turbo kit. It will run you around $3000 depending on what you get with it. Another is the STAR turbo kit. And finally is the TREADSTONE turbo kit. All will run you around the same price depending on what you get with it and whether or not its brand new or bought from an individual.

As said above a link or pictures would help. A lot of people like to piece their kits together to save money, or just get the parts they want. There is lots of information on here to help out with going turbo though.

Search turbo under the 420a section and it will give you everything you need to know about what parts to buy, how much boost the stock engine can handle and anything else you want to know. LOL, you make it sound as if no one on here knows about boosting a 420a...

no its not that i dont want to put together a kit for myself. its just that im really really tight on cash and i am craving more and more power from my car. i actually found this semi turbo kit for really cheap like something around 5 hundred but its used thats the only problem. but if its been taken care of then i dont think there should be a problem. i just am not sure if its gunna fit. and on the ad it says "sohc greddy turbo kit" im not sure if its only for a sohc car or what, and about the neon thing im pretty sure the neons use the same 420a that we use in our dsms so if it fits that then it should fit me right?

When you talked to the guy did he say it was for a neon, cause everything on the ad page is for a honda/acura even the link says "Misc. Parts HONDA CIVIC Greddy Turbo ACURA INTEGRA TYPE R JDM". Sounds like the turbo kit is for a SOHC honda motor. But if it is for a neon im not sure if it will fit because even though neon's have the same engine, its flipped around(Intake in front, Exhaust in back near firewall).:dsm:

yea i dunno when i called the guy he didnt seem to know much i asked him if they would fit my car and he said he didnt know, i was like ok ill try to find out and give you a call back. but he was sayin some stuff about since it fitts hondas/acuras it should fit the mitsubishi but idn i dont wanna take the chance without knowing forsure if its gunna fit

Well if its not for a 420a its not to big a deal beacause theres alot of turbos out there you just have to get the right manifold for them. Try to find out what type of turbine housing it has(T3, T3/T4, etc.), then buy a manifold to fit it. But with the other parts in the kit the engine manage might work if its an AFC and you'll just have to buy a harness for or hard wire it same thing with the turbo timer. All the gauges will obviously work and as for the BOV and FMIC you can buy some universal pipes and get the hks flange welded on one of the pipes. For mounting the Intercooler you could probably get away with using stuff from Home Depot. Hope this helps some.:dsm:Forgot to mention you'll have to get an oil feed line and drain line, maybe water lines also depending on if the turbo is water cooled. You might not want to hear this but i would just save up and buy a kit made for your car.
