watup guys?

i had an article here earlier about my build, I had rebuilt the entire suspension this pamy st summer and am moving on to motor stuff right now.

I was going to swap in an NT JDM motor for cheapness and gas mileage but i have since then narrowed down the problems in my current motor and come to the realization it is cheaper to rebuild..... and that i am capable of it.

my motor has 204,000 miles and smokes. I pulled spark plugs yesterday and the #1 cylinder(assuming one starts one passenger side) was coated in oil. 2,3,4 looked great. I don't have compression numbers but given i have a new head gasket and the oil and water arn't mixing, i think it's safe to say that i have a bad ring.

so my intentions are to pull the pistons and machine the rods to accept the 2g pistons. New rod bearings, a light hone, mls head gasket, mani head gaskets, and 3g lifters.

My power goals are only 250hp or so. I am going to stay on stock boost and run 91-93 at all times. I will probably retard timing while daily driving too. On the track however, i plan on running a few psi higher but running the race gas, w/e octane they have. My other supporting mods will be a 2.5" turbo back with no cat. i might drop in a new fuel pump just for insurance.

my questions, how will retarding the timing for daily driving effect gas mileage, it is the main driver for the higher compression. and with stock and slightly higher than stock, how will new oe head studs go. I am thinking like 16 psi, or not using a mbc and lettin it spike to w/e.... which i can't see being any higher than 16 or 17psi.

all timing components are only 15,000 miles old so all good there. I might do a balance shaft removal while I am in there.

2g pistons and 1g rods are a great combo and more than plenty for your goals. Not to sure on the the timing but for the studs go for arp for added insurance.

considering your low hp goals,a stock set up is more than plenty for your current needs,no need to retard timing if you are going to run it at near stock boost levels. The oem head studs quite capable for your hp goals. I would recomend a mbc as they are a lot more consistent than the stock one.

low hp goals?? :(

I really just want a reliable daily driver, just tryin to net a few horses along the way:)
