London,
I was taking my throttle body elbow off to port out that ridge it has in it (one off those free stage zero mods i read on here) and i go to get the upper forward bolt off and breaks flush with my intake manifold.:notgood: So I drill a hold in the middle and try and use an extractor, one quick twist and that breaks too.WTF So now i can't drill another hole with my highspeed steel drills and I'm not sure what to do. Harder drill (such as?), heat, new intake manifold(i know of one in the junkyard).

I went out and got a cobalt bit, and that won't go through either.

Right, well thats encouraging news, are you sure i cant drill it out while its in the car?

I have access to a radial arm drill press and mig/tig/stick/torch welders so it won't cost me anything, I'm just looking for the best solution.

We usually weld another short bolt to it and turn it out. If the carbide extractor is broken off in it you don't have much choice other than removing the manifold and bringing it to a machine shop with a drill press.

At this point, probably the least expensive thing to do would be to is buy another manifold.

Even carbide won't touch the piece of extractor you have stuck in there so you are pretty much left with EDM to remove the bolt.

You'll need the services of someone like this is you want to fix it: HOW TO EXTRACT BROKEN STUDS, DRILLS, BOLTS

DRAGIN's suggestion of welding a short bolt (I usually use a nut) is a good one but still involves removing the manifold and paying someone cash.

I think the junkyard is your friend:)

I work at a car dealer (Ford LOL) and we get lots of broken bolts. You should be able to weld a bolt or "nut" with the mani on the car. Mig it up mang!
