seincromesh or gear oil?

Heres the problem i just got a dsm chip and am now reving to 8000 rpm, when I try shifting at that high of rpm my tranny will grind and not want to go in. It shifts fine when I don't rev it up all the way and it's a brand new tranny. I have been running the 75w 90 oil and i was woundering if i ran some roal purple seincromesh or the penzoil seincromesh, would that fix my grinding problem or would it mess up my tranny.
 
check this out, i had stock clutch setup and some generic gear oil in the car. it did not like to shift at high rpms. i mean it felt like it was locked in.

i recently replaced the clutch and flywheel, to act2600 with street disk and fidanza flywheel, and then put penzoil syncromesh. now it shifts at high rpm.

no metal flakes from draining the old oil, the old clutch and flywheel were fine (i could reuse it if I wanted to), so maybe it was the gear oil that let me shift?

but just normal driving, i dont see the "miraculous" smoother feeling shifts that people claim, compared to my generic gear oil.
 
First of all, it is called Synchromesh.

I had the same kind of high RPM grind on my car WITH Synchromesh. It is very light, after a year of use it drained out like water. I switched a combination of Redline Heavy and lightweight and the grinding went away.

Use something (anything) heavier than Synchromesh.
 
Sorry about miss spelling it but it'll do it going in to second the worst. If i don't rev it that high it'll shift fine and smooth. I'll check and make sure the clutch is disengaging but i don't think it's thats it. If i do put the syncromesh in my trans will it hurt any thing?
 
I much prefer Redline MT90 or MTL. Like Dee said, Synchromesh is too thin.
But, you might as well try some Pennzoil Synchromesh if you're that curious. It's certainly cheap enough. It won't hurt anything - but your tranny will let you know if its the right product for you.
 
This topic's bin beat to death so many times. And you could probably read through every single page of every thread on this topic, and still not find a definite answer. Penzoil syncromesh may work great for someone shifting at high rpm's, and may cause major grinding for the next person. I'd say its sort of a trial and error type thing, start with a thicker fluid, if it doesn't work, change it out and try something a little thinner. Figure out what works best for you!
 
Synchromesh has the consistency of 10w30 motor oil. Gear oil, obviously, will be MUCH thicker. I'd imagine at high RPM the gear oil will have more drag than the Synchromesh.

I've always used Synchromesh and changed it often. At just 5k, you'll notice the oil will not be discolored or broken down when you drain it but it WILL have enough metal in it to look like metallic paint. There are no filters on the tranny, so there is nothing there to trap the metal.

In my 13 years of racing motocross, I NEVER changed a clutch on any of my race bikes....and I changed the gear oil after EVERY RACE. I simply chose an inexpensive 10w40 oil and changed it often. Draining the oil often would wash the metal wear particles and clutch dust out of the transmission, and the clean oil would provide the lubrication needed to keep the parts from wearing. I'd watch my buddies who used the same oil all season changing clutch plates twice monthly.

I carry that experience over to my race DSM's. Buy a case of Synchromesh, and change your trans fluid every 5k.
