ok i have a 1990 laser 2.0L turbo, ~170,000 miles on odometer(speedo cable was broke when i bought the car-fixed now) been told it has aftermarket cams(haven't personally looked yet) i bought the car 2yrs ago it had a n/t trans in it w/a flywheel out of a hyunda sonota in it and just a mess as far as many different parts from different cars in it, the po i bought it from said he couldn't find a turbo trans for it so that's why he put the n/t in. well the trans he had in it didn't last very long once i adjusted the shift cables so i could hit all the gears-it actally only lasted 2weeks, anyways, i moved out of state and had to let the car sit w/o being started or moved for ~10months, now i have bought the correct turbo trans, put in a new pressure plate, clutch disk, throwout bearing, and the correct shift cables, and the correct flywheel in the car, i'm trying to get this done quick because my everyday car needs some work, so i get it all 2gether and start it up and it produces black smoke out the exhaust, has a really terrible miss in it, covers the spark plugs in carbon in about 1 minute of running, when i first start it up i can't rev it past 3krpm, it will shoot up to 3500then kick back down and back up to 3500 and it will continue to do this untill i let off the gas pedal, afterward i can't rev it past 2500, and it will start to drop to 2000 and back to 2500 again seems to idle rough but it always has, i have done a compression test on the cylendars, from cams they read 170,100,155,160, i know that the one at 100psi has some sort of issue, i've read in some of the forums that this is caused by a worn exhaust lobe on the exhaust cam, i have also tested the coil pack- the primary had an open circuit, so i replaced it, to no avail, i have no cel light on and i have read the ecu using the analoge mutltimeter and it reads as everything is fine on the engine, i took the fuel injectors out and gave them a good look nothing built up on them checked their resistance which is all within spec in the hanes manuel, i have done a leak test and i cannot find any airleaks (i had the hose for the evap canister hanging but i fixed it before the test) i have also replaced the plug wires, and the plugs are new ngk e6's (of course they are covered in carbon but i thoroughly clean them after each thing i do to fix it) does anyone have any ideas what i'm overlooking? thanx for ## help in advance
