Im 17. I just bought my first dsm. Its a 97 Eclipse RS automatic. No one on this forum will ever guess how much I paid for it so ill go ahead and tell ya. I paid $500 total for the car. It runs but needs transmission work. So i figure since the transmission is almost already shot ill go ahead and do a manual swap. Besides the transmission the car is perfect. Never been wrecked, blows extremely cold air, tan interior, the only leak it has is bc the radiator hose is busted. the dealership i bought it from had it for months just sitting under some trees in the back and wasnt bothering with it. frames in great shape. ill have some pics up tomorrow.

im looking to convert all the locks and windows to power along with the manual swap. if anyone can point me to guide for the power stuff and tell me everything i need for the manual swap that would be great and tell me where i can find a guide for it.
oh one more thing, would it be a problem putting a gs-t tranny in it? does a gs-t tranny handle more?

I also noticed that the vfaq.com manual swap was for the 1g, is that also usable for the 2g?
 
The GST uses a 4g63 engine; your car has a 420a engine. The engines and transmissions are on opposite sides of each other in the two different platforms. A GST transmission and/or engine will NOT work in your car.
 
The 1g swap is going to account for a 4g63 engine, either the turbo or non-turbo version. Either way, it's a Mitsu engine mated to a Mitsu transmission. Your car has a Chrysler engine, mated to a Chrysler transmission. It's not just a generation gap between a 1g and your 2g; there is almost nothing in common between the two cars.
