i have a 95 gts. this is my first tuner and first turbo. im looking to put a new turbo in it but i hear lots of controversy. my plan was to fun a t4 with a .20 or .40 over block, but some people say that the block wont handle 25 to 30 pounds of boost. so i can get a racing block but that alone is $3500. as it is now im looking at 3000 just for engine parts and the new turbo kit. so i would like to no what other people are running, est. engine horse, and any problems that you had with the mods. i want to do it right the first time. i am going to take at least a year getting all the parts and other things i need(exhaust, intake, ecu mods, ect) so i just want to do it right.

you dont need to bore the block for better power. The fatsest of our cars are still 2.0L. And before you go upgrading to t4 your going to need bigger injectors fmic a data loger and a fuel managment system. Bigger fuel pump. I would recomend you start out with a big evo 16g setup and work your way up from there.

You have a lot of searching to do. T4 is just a flange, what specs of a t4 do plan on running?

k well i no all that other stuff and my bad about the t3t3 thing im not good with tuner lingo. i was going to go with a 255 lph pump 655 or so injecters and all that but it seems like everyone in spokane i talk to says the 16 g is garbage. on guy that i talked to is running mid 10's and all that so i dont no if i should believe him. i dont want a 10 sec car yet mayber 5 years down the road or so. and to the 20 40 over thing im not doing that for power but i want to get a junk block and build it in my garage so depending on wear i might have to bore it out a bit for the new pistons. and also the guy i talked to was running 30 lbs boost but raise his compression from 8.5 to 9.5. wouldnt that detonate because of the high compression. and is it better to run an oil cooled or water cooled

16g garbage??? There are plenty of people running them that are in low 13s high 12s, even faster with a good tune. The reason i sugest a 16g for you is probly because your like most of use and want to keep it cheap. But there not garbage at all.

Right.....16G's are garbage. That's why it's the go-to turbo for 90% of all DSMer's looking to get more power out of their relatively stock setup (head and engine- not bolt on's).

Don't get me wrong, there ARE some garbage 16G's out there....but they're made in China and sold on eBay. The MHI turbos are just as reliable as the turbo that came on your car when it was new.

No offense, but you need to find some people in Spokane that know what they're talking about, or start spending more time reading on here.

full 3inch exhaust
ebay intake
255lph fuel pump(rewired)
afpr
1000cc injectors
dsmlink
50 trim turbo
good cast t3 (or whatever you decide to do) turbo manifold
fmic
extrenal wastegate
and proper guages

I left alot of little things out, but do that, and do some research, and you will have a sick car.

this is y i posted this the steps say to pick a goal but with so many brands and types out there i dk what to pick. maybe ill go back to small block chevys LOL

My best advise would be to start doing a tonn of reading on here before you go out & buy a bunch of parts that you later on find out they aren't the best choice for you. Most of your questions have been answered on here numerous times, so you need to start researching yourself (as per form rules) & then come back when you have more specific questions.

16g's aren't a "garbage" turbo, tonns of guys run them & they are a great turbo, it just depends on what your goals are to see if this is the turbo for you. While the 16g is a great turbo personally I would recommend something abit larger being your fwd & the later/more progressive spool is a good thing for you. First set up some power goals &/or 1/4 mile goals. Then think about what your goals are later down the road. The reason you do this is because you might buy something that will suite your current goals but may need to be upgraded in the future, if your future plans are different. Depending on the specific item you may be able to plan ahead & only have to buy the item once, that will work both goals (ie fuel management, injectors, fuel pump. etc)

As for 16g's being junk, I know of more then a few that have run mid to high 11's with full weight awds, with basically stock internals on the motor (just cams).
