ok, so i have searched far and low, and cannot find the answer to my question. i've recently traded a stock 94 civic for a decently modded 90 gst with a 57 trim. before i got the gst, i was not experiencing any tq steer at all. now it is horrible. i have boost settings at 12, 18, and 22psi. i can handle it on 12 and 18, but once i get to 21psi i feel like im going to put it into the wall and kill myself. the car has a full drag suspension, prothane motor mounts, and a phantom grip LSD insert. it doesnt have power steering, so i know that adds to it as well. but i was wondering if there are any ways to fight it, or make it less noticeable besides a true LSD or something that will cost money? im taking the car to the track in a couple weeks, and want to be able to get in a full powered run. does anyone have any info or a link or something for me? if i have missed a thread on it somewhere sorry, but i couldnt find any answers that werent costly

I didn't know that older GSTs didn't come with intermediate shafts and equal length driveshafts. :talon:

To the best of my knowledge none of them did, well at least the four fwd's I've owned havn't. Upgrading to equal length axle is the way to go.

alright thanks. about how much is that going to cost me? im really short on a budget right now.

If I have the parts. I'll let them go for $50 plus shipping. I believe I do but I'd have to double check when I make it home in a day or two. Drop me a pm if your interested.

Try BF goodrich drag radials, I had a lot less torque steer with them. Nitto 555rs where horrible for torque steer. Also keep in mind that torque steer is always going to be there with a fwd now matter what you do.

ya, i know i'll always have tq steer as long as i have a fwd, im just trying to lower the effect of it so i dont kill myself

aaahhh torque steer just means your having fun!! no but an axle for the left front out of an awd will help alot! advance auto parts has them for like $60 some bucks

Generally, the more power you make in a fwd, the more your going to have torque steer (ie thats why the civic never had any ROFL ). The equal length half shafts will help, just make sure the replacements you get are the correct size & spline count. I believe it was the very early 1g fwd's that had the smaller diameter half shafts that were the same size as the awd's & could be swapped. Later on they changed to a larger diameter for the fwd's & a direct swap of half shafts was no longer poossible. To run the equal length half shafts in this case, you'd need to swap to a modified awd tranny.

You may not have the cash for it but the best method to reduce torque steer is still going to be a "real" LSD such as the Quaife. I run my car at 25psi daily & a few psi more at the track & the torque steer is very minimal/not an issue for me. Also, if you want a good run/descent time at the track, ditch the street rubber & get drag radials or slicks, street rubber just doesn't hook if your making any kind of descent power.

so around the same year as my car(1990) i can swap the half shafts? and about how much is a good LSD?

Yes, you need the intermediate shaft out of a 90 gsx then just go to autozone and get the cv axle for 60 bucks. Just make sure you tell them its for a 90 gsx. I'm in the same boat as you right now, so if anyone has a intermediate shaft they want to sell pm me.
