ok..my friend just bought a 98 tsi. the guy who owned it before him thought it was to fast. so.. he pushed the wastegate shut and hose clamped it so it couldnt open..maybe a couple psi but slow as hell. so i took off the hose clamp and now a 4000rpm hes bucking like crazy. im not very familiar with these cars. i told him plugs and wires but it feels like its cutting fuel or timing. i disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and it didnt help..so any advice would be great. it is bone stock except for a bov.

ok i will have him try all that. tps sounds like it could be it but the car wont barely move let alone get into boost. its worth it to do anyway just because though. no smoke. i feel like the ecu isnt used to the higher boost. did i reset his ecu right? with the battery?

Take out whatever plugs that aren't NGK BPRS6ES and aren't gapped at .028" and throw them off a nearby bridge. You should also say something rude about Al Gore's mother while doing so.
Go ahead and replace the wires while you're at it. Try not to ball-up the firing order.

Then you can go about finding out how deeply the previous owner dicked the dog by obviating every last chance that little motor had to survive while putting out three times the power something that size ever should.
