Hello...

I have a 1993 Eagle Talon TSi that has a broken timing belt. I decided to go with a 6 bolt swap, i hear 6 bolts are much stronger than 7 bolts.

I have a couple of questions about a 6 bolt block and a 7 bolt head.
I was wondering, what needs to be done for the head to fit on a 6 bolt block?

Also, I am getting the head rebuilt, where would be the best place to take the head? Just somewhere local in my town or somewhere with a better name?

What would need to be replaced in a head if the timing belt has broken?

Thanks.

from what i heard the holes on the head need to be honed out a little for it to fit. i dont the exact procedure but any shop could tell you.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to buy a 6 bolt head from SBR. I could easily put the head I have now on ebay and purchase one that's already been done and not worry about things not lining up.

For you to fit a 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt block you would need to get the area where the head studs pass through the head bored out to 12mm instead of 11mm. The 6 bolt head studs are 12mm while the ones on the 7 bolt are 11mm. Keep in mind if you are going with forced induction and plan on porting a head, the 6 bolt head has 1mm larger intake and exhaust valves i beleive. I know they are definatly bigger but I cannot remember by how much. Either .5mm or 1mm.
