I thought I'd give this a whirl seeing as I had a spare interior trim pice for the mirror cover and I didnt like the ugly vent mounting. So far its just roughed in. I used PVC for the pod part. I still need to do some fiberglassing on it and painting. The hardest part was trying to run the line through the door with the wiring harness. But hey it works! And its in a visable spot too. Sorry for the crappy pics, this camera sucks, I'll take better ones when I can.

Well it work nicely. Good visual. I started 'glassing tonight, so I'll finsih it up tomarrow. I havent run any wires for the lights tho so thats going to be a pain. Hered some better pics of it before 'glassing.

I was wondering if anyone else had done this, I mean its a pretty good spot and its out of the way. My friend got hassled by a cop for having pillar mounts because they "obstructed his view". I dont think they'll mind this.

Put a coat of some cheap paint on it to have a better feel for what its going to look like and so I can put it in my car since I have to work today. When I get home I'll finish smoothing it all out. Check it out.

Well its done now. Works nicely. I havent had any problem with the vacuum line yet. I left enough slack in the line so it would pull extra line instead of kinking it.

And yes the round part is PVC. Trimed it to fit the contours of the original plastic piece, epoxyed, fiberglassed, then bondoed. I used something called a 'street' elbow, it barely has a bend in it. I had to dremel the opening up a bit for the gauge to fit in.

We'll I'm fixing to start an new project as soon as I get my 6X9 fiberglass quater panels done. It's going to be a new dash thats made for 2 guages an the ZT-2 an maybe the EDFC system. I havent decided if I realy want to spend the extra 400 on that unit yet. but a fiberglass dash with to guage pods an a space for the ZT-2 would be great.

Its a good spot if you want everyone to know what you have under the hood. I would add Bondo and sand that sucker down to where it looks like it goes there. But Good idea. Heres mine, took me 2 days from start to finish......:D

All anyone has to do is look at the factory decal on my car to know what I have 'under the hood'. I like this spot beacause I dont have to drill into my a-pillar plastic, and I had a spare mirror trim, so I could always convert back to stock. And belive its smooth and finished, and looks like its supposed to be there. The paint on it sucks though, 99 cent crap.
I plan on putting more in the radio area, but for now Im stuck with the double din cassete thing so that I can play my MP3 player with one of those cassete things, and I have to money to upgrade.

Yeah, I know. But only fellow Dsm'ers would know about that and other few that know about the factory turbo decal. I couldn't upload a pic of my set up. But take a look at my PIC on my profile. I took out the AC bent on driver side and fiber glassed one and put the auto meter boost gage. Bet you guys never seen this set up. What do you guys think...
I still need to paint it.
