new tranny question

hey guys i need an answer. i have a fwd 90 laser 2.0l non turbo with a 5 speed. well my tranny is takin a crap so i found a 5 speed fwd 2.0l out of a 92 will it work? every thing is the same but the year but i dont know if it will fit? thanks kevin

I believe the spline count is different between the 90 and 91-94's, look into that before you jump the gun and buy it.

That's only on the AWD models. And it's the transfer case spline count. 22 on a '90 and 23 on a '91-'94. Plus he's got a FWD N/T and it's a '91 anyway.

I've even used a trans out of a 1.6L Hyuandai Sonata on my old GS.

yeah i got the tranny it works great. the other one got stuck in reverse and would not come out so i had to replace it
