1992 Tsi AWD 5spd
I did search, and found little helpful info.
On cold starts, there is a hard starting problem. The car will crank and crank and crank, and nothing. Eventually, it will sputter to life. Before it finally starts, I hear the main replays by the ECU clicking a lot, and the tachometer/boost gauge jump all over and act erractic. As it's sputtering to life, if i tap the throttle the tachometer/the engine itself does respond instantly, its as if my throttle input is delayed a little. And normally once it starts the car is fine, but...
Tonight, I started the car with the same above problems as normal, and cruising down the highway the car backfired, CEL came one, tach going crazy, throttle did nothing as I tried to rev it up a bit, even when I downshifted to kinda clutch start the engine it just would not go. I sat on the side of the road. Cranking, cranking, for a long time. Finally it would rev up (as i was tapping the gas while cranking) and then just die. I sat for maybe 5 minutes, cranked it, and it started right up.
Sound like a junk ecu?
