Ok guys and gals,

In a previous post I was asked for pics about the way the vacuum lines were left by the PO. So here it goes and a little help straightening out this mess would be nice.

1st - What the heck is this item? There are two metal pipes in Pic 2 that run between the TB and engine and hook to this. I haven't seen this pipe on others engine bay shots so I was wondering what it controls. Yes, i know the engine bay is dirty, but my main concerns right now are getting my fuel parts and getting her running.

2nd - Here is the metal pipe, the two hoses in the center of the picture are what they are connected to. Also.. What the hell? No P nipple on the throttle body? Serious issue? or do I just need to plug the hole till I decide to buy a new TB?

Waiting on pay day this Thursday so I can order a walbro 190, MAFT, 680 injectors and actually start getting the car able to feed that 60-1 turbo.

Oh, now that I have the wastegate hooked up correctly I am correcting the BOV and gauge hookups.

3rd question - Should there be a nipple behind the coil on this intake for the BOV?

1. EVAP Emission Purge Control Solenoid Valve

2. I'm not sure what is going on with the hoses there. It seems like you're missing a nipple on the intake manifold. Possibly the previous owner swapped the intake manifold from a 95-97 car? On 98-99 throttle bodies there is only 2 nipples. The P nipple is blocked from the factory. See the picture below for what my 99 looks like.

3. The bov nipple is circled in red below.

Ah ok, the engine is a 6 bolt the PO swapped in but I guess he used the original 98 Throttle Body. That atleast clears up a little of the confusion.

Well the idle surge seems to be gone, I am gonna T that line that you have circles and add the BOV in there.

Idle is rough as hell though but I think it's because of the stock fuel system on a 60-1 turbo. We will see when my check comes in and I can get injectors and a fuel pump.

You mention upgrading the injectors in posts 1 and 6 but your profile does not show any means to control the fuel such as DsmLink, SAFC, or a Keydiver chip. How do you plan to control fuel to the bigger injectors?

I plan on going with a SAFC II as I don't feel 100% sure in making the dsmlink investment at the moment and I'd like to learn more about dsms in general before going to link. I'm a computer tech by trade but am shying away from it for the time being.

This months paycheck is only allowing for so much though so I was going to go ahead and do the walbro 190 and injectors. Possibley MAFT since the car has a gm maf on the intercooler pipe.

To my understanding I can use the MAFT to adjust for the larger injectors so it doesn't run pig rich for the time being but I know a SAFC will be needed to get any type of good tune on the car.

And some people have asked and I answered in previous posts but no, this car is not being driven at all right now. It is just sitting on my parking pad waiting for money and parts :(

That's the plan so far, I just considered it a little more important to get the pump and injectors before the SAFC as the SAFC doesn't do anything without this engine actually getting the fuel it needs to run correctly :thumb:

Thanks a lot for the diagrams, I had seen it posted several times but was getting server down errors on each one. That answers a lot of my questions such as "Hey, can I unhook the vacuum lines EVAP solenoid to help clean up the engine bay?"

Anyone have any issues removing it at all?

Nope the original MAF is still hooked up though. Basically the previous owner dropped a ton of money into this car, got bored with it and decided he wanted a GSX.

So it has a lot done to it, just not in the right order or with everything there. Such as the PO had the BOV venting to atmosphere with air metering at the begining of the intake and not after the BOV.

Things the PO had done 6 bolt engine dropped in with a fresh rebuild, aem wideband gauge, apexi downpipe with cat delete, turbo xs BOV (i've heard they were crap but it's all i got right now), aftermarket oil press gauge, aftermarket boost gauge, front mounted intercooler with custom welded piping (3 inch upper and seems like 2.5 lower), 60-1 ball bearing turbo setup.

No translator, vacuum lines were all Tee'd off of each other and rather crazy, 60-1 ball bearing turbo with no fuel upgrades, no fuel control system, wastegate actuator hooked into vacuum lines and not nippled on the J pipe.

You see what I am getting at.

Well I'm not going to say anything along those lines. All i can say is that I want to set things up so that they work correctly and I can drive the car and enjoy it.

That's why you guys get so many stupid questions from me, and I can honestly say in the last couple weeks just reading over previous posts and searching around that I have learned a TON of things. This is my first turbo vehicle and the first modded car when it comes to electronic fuel injection. So i want to get things right the first time and get things setup. Plus the ability to tune and get some ok gas mileage is very exciting to me.

Remember this is coming from a guy that is used to carbed V8 gas mileage and my current DD 4x4 SUV gets around 13Mpg. So a car getting in the upper 20s would make me jump and scream for joy.

Ah so. You have a challenging project ahead. All of the upgrade paths you will find on this site assume that you are starting with a working car and mods are added in (somewhat of) a logical progression that keep the car running.

You are jumping in with some mods done but not in any sense of a logical order.
You may be screaming for salvation for real soon.

Just a word of caution from one software guy to another: No matter how wrong you get the source code you can always restore from backup with only your time lost. Get the upgrade path wrong and you can blow holes in the pistons that cannot be fixed by any combination of keystrokes.

Enjoy.

Lol oh how I know that is the truth. Though I think I am taking the most logical path handling the fuel issues first. I have no plans to run super amounts of boost or 10 second quarters.
