toronto,
Hi,

I bought a 98 eclipse spyder Gs-t. and when i test drove it, the clutch was really hard to click in and out. and the clutch pedal went flat.

My mechanic said the clutch was fine and replace the master and slave cylinder and it will fix the problem.

I bought the car and replaced the master and the slave.

I still have the problem. I was driving today and i couldn't put the car into any gear and the clutch had no pressure.

I pulled over and turned the car off, and i was able to shift into gears.

pumped the clutch a few times and it regained the pressure.

Drove home forcing the gears into place.

Help please, what could be the problem. been reading about the cranwalk thing, and getting scared. are their any other reasons?

thanks

Ya I Have Been Having The Same Problem!!! I Got A New Clutch Throw Out Bearing Slave Cyl Master Cyl New Slave Rod(not Extended) Also My Block Head Crank Were All Inspected On Rebuild Motor Has Less Than 500 Miles Wtf Is Wrong With It All I Can Think Of Is A Bad Rubber Hose? (swelling )

could be the clutch line clogging up.
pick up a new clutch line the braided SS lines are about 20 bucks

did you bleed your system really well after the install?? i would try to bleed the clutch again. It could be a worn pivot ball or bent/broken shift fork too.

same thing happened to me a couple weeks back... i had to replace the whole clutch because one one of the springs in the clutch plate popped out and thought it would be a good idea to wrap itself around one of the teeth on my pressure... hope that helps., and don't forget to resurface the flywheel ;)

:dsm:ok still no luck ..... ss line installed all the lines blown out replaced the slave cyl. twice already ... got a extended clutch rod and its worse than ever now ./ i cant even put it in gear .... i bled and bled and after a quart of fluid i gave up ....

now i think it may be a bent (was bending) clutch fork ...... the throw out bearing is new 2 so idk any feed back would be apreciated

I had the exact same problem when I first bought my car. I replaced both the master and slave cylinder and had no luck solving the problem. I ended up having to put in a new clutch and now my car drives fine. Hopefully you can fix it without having to replace the clutch because I know thats probably not what you want to be spending money on.

yeah it's got to be your clutch fork, one of the best signs for a bent a clutch fork is if it is really hard to depress your clutch, i bet your new throw out bearing barely touches your pressure plate. replace it quick, beating your car into gear will destroy the synchros in your tranny. 1g nad 2g already have poor synchros in 'em. Good luck.

YA i did try ajusting the pedal... and my clutch is new (throw out bearing 2) when i put that in the fork seemed fine... but ya good thing i dont even drive the car yet !
