I'm currently in the process of building a 10.5 second street car. Now i have a few questions that i would like some expert opinions on. I do apoligize if this is in the wrong forum but i belived they would newbie questions. First off I have currently modified my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD extensivly in my opinion. but i currently have bad rings and plan to build the car and go big. My engine inludes hks 272 cams, manley rod, manly pistons, and a balance shaft elimination kit. I do not plan to use the manley rods and pistons again. I do plan on building a complete new engine for the car. I do not want to run nitrous at all. so what would be the recomendation of pistons that will handle that kind of power reliable with NO nitrous? I Plan on using eagle rods. Would it be recomended to build a stroker over a 2.0 built engine for these power levels? If so what rod and piston combination should be used? Also if i go stroker what crankshaft would be recomended to do such? As for the head i plan on using the hks 272 cams, stainless steel valves, titanium retainers, and bronze valve guides. Would it be better to use 1 mm oversized valves, if not then what is your suggestions. Also should i have the head ported or would the stock head yeild these power goals? Should i upgrade to a sheetmetal intake manifold or go with a stock unit? If i upgrade to a sheetmetal intake manifold what is the recommened manifold that is the most bang for the buck? Are my 680cc injectors good enough for a reliable 10.5 street car? I use a super afc neo but plan to go dsmlink. Is there a better recomendation other then a dsmlink to use? I run a 3" turboback straight pipe exhuast which i will retain. I have a dnp tubular manifold and was wondering if I should change to a cast manifold? And for the last question will a 20g be a good turbo to acheive my goals and if not what are your recomendations with what kind of wastegate? Thank You for your time and any recomendations you will have for me.

for porting the head Just port match it and polish it if you dont have a flow bench. Be careful not to go too far, you want to make sure it flows approximately the same for each port. You can use standard abrasives to roughen up the intake side so that the air and fuel mix. I think 10.5 seconds is a hard goal to reach. I dont know much about using mitsubishi turbos but you could go to a holset with a bullseye housing or you could make a holset work by welding a t3 flange on the stock manifold. How did you mess up your motor?

Running 10.5 is possible with a possible 2.0l engine. However you would need a big turbo something gt35r, hx40, bw s366, etc... and 1000cc injectors.

For the block, go with Eagle rods with either Wiseco or JE 8.3:1 pistons.

For the head you would need some springs too. Manley springs with titanium retainer are very good and is capable of take 8.5-9k revs. I don't really see a point in oversize valves.

Basically if your going to do all this work you well get your block and head deck and port with runners matching the head.

JM Fab makes quality SMIM for an affordable price.

Sounds like you might need to do a little more research before achieving this goal but hopefully thats why you made this thread.. I agree a bigger turbo is going to be needed, if you want to keep the mitsu housing you could look into fp turbo's like the 3065 etc.. Definitely upgrade the stock intake manifold with a jmf SMIM like suggested or similiar.. Link sould get the job done but there's always aem or m/s for more experienced tuners. The stock cranks has been pushed far beyond 10's so you will be fine with that.. LoL Thats all the question I felt like answering because I had to write this twice..

This is what the general rule says for this forum....

Beginner/newbie/general DSM questions. first mods, how to run 10's when you haven't run 12's yet, any tech question that doesn't fit in another tech forum. New Members must limit their tech posts to this section.

You've just hit that one on the head.
