I just bought this eclipse, 98 GS-T spyder with auto trans. I noticed that when coming to stops, SOMETIMES it would not shift all the way down to first gear, and it would start out at 2nd gear other times it would shift fine. I then changed the filter and fluid with B&M trickshift. The transmission is shifting very hard now. First gear is the worst. If I am really easy, it shifts smoothly. If I am accelerating, it shifts hard and jerks the whole car. the higher gears seam to shift fine.

Any ideas?

Oh man get the stuff out of your tranny ASAP...your car uses ATF+3 Tranny fluid...its MUCH thinner and has more lubrication than Regular trans fluid or that Trick shift stuff. If I remember correctly that trick shift stuff FOAMS up :notgood:

That stuff is good for old muscle cars but not your DSM man.

So Drop the pan again and replace the filter then dissconnect your Tranny cooler line and run it into a bucket...then start the car and put it in Drive and let all the fluid pump out of your Torque converter.

Once you have all the old fluid out then throw in a new filter and get some ATF+3 tranny fluid and fill her back up... I bet that will help A LOT as long as you didnt already do permenant damage

well, I have only driven it about 5 miles around town then pulled it back in the garage to see what is going on. I thought I read on here to use that "stuff"

Thanks, I will get it flushed out of there! Man...............that trick shift stuff was exspensive too!
