I'm looking at going to pick up a tranny from "Pull A Part" this Saturday or maybe Friday. I've read the VFAQs and all other tranny pull resources. My question, since I don't care about the car I'm pulling out of, what shortcuts are there to get it out and the back of the truck as quickly as possible so I can get to the car I'm buying, throw it in, and drive it home.

I've got all my stuff tools ready to go and easily accessible in the top of the toolbox and a good supply of PB Blaster just in case.

On a 1g pull the two bolts that connect the strut to the knuckle instead of disconnecting the ball joint. This way you just pull on the top of the knuckle to slide the axles out instead of having to actually take them out. That's the only thing I can think of besides using a torch to cut things out.

Unfortunately, there's a 'no torches allowed' policy there as well as 'no jacks'. :( Everything is already up on stands there and apparently they 'offer hoists for engines and transmissions.'

i just did it saturday on mine, theres 4 bolts besides the 2 starter bolts holding it to the block, the two bolts holding the mount to the tranny, after axles are removed and broke free from block your gonna wanna swing the outer part of the tranny, farthest from the engine toward the back and then tilt it all down. otherwise your gonna fight the diff on the sub frame
